LPT: IV vaccine injection is contraindicated. Vaccines are supposed to be IM. Unfortunately, aspirating is no longer standard. If you’re going to get ANY vaccine, then make sure that the person injecting it aspirates (e.g. first pulls the plunger out to check there’s no blood before injecting). “Because intravascular (IV) injection of vaccines is formally contraindicated, the justification for aspiration would be based on the theoretical assumption that it can be seen as a test with the “needle out of the vessel”.
