Portraits tips? I always get frustrated sometimes when taking portrait photos. I usually use manual mode when i take portraits but there are just times that I cant take the right light and focus. So i use the portrait option with flash and as much as possible i try not to use it. Any tips?? I have a 50mm lens. submitted by /u/glue_gun21
How to take similar portraits? Heya! I’m new to photography. Can you tell me, please, what equipment and technique to use to get a similar result? Is this photo taken on film or am I just being naive? submitted by /u/NewBoyRightThere
Thinking of Switching to a 70-200mm for Street Portraits – Thoughts? Hey everyone! I’ve been shooting street portraits with an 85mm lens, but I’m considering moving to a 70-200mm to be more discreet and capture people from a bit further away without sticking out too much. Has anyone tried the 70-200mm for street photography? I’d love to hear about: • How discreet it feels compared to an 85mm • Image quality and b…
Super zoom + portraits? Hi, I have two use cases for a dslr camera; super zoom, because I think it’s cool, and portraits. Is there any camera that fits the bill? Ideally a popular one that I can buy used fairly cheap. Thanks! submitted by /u/Flat-Egg-82
Lens for Portraits and Macro? Hey everyone I am currently looking for a lens that is very suitable for portraits and macro. With my Sony a7riii and the Sony 200-600 I’m just about to try my hand at wildlife. I am also very interested in portraits (family, friends etc) and macro. Important points for myself: – centre sharpness – not that heavy (less than 1kg) – budget around…

Senior Portraits printing prices? Should you charge to print for senior photos or let them find where they want to print them off at? Below are senior photos that I only charged for the photo session and editing. Should I be charging and doing prints for them? And what is too much for senior photos? #senior submitted by /u/Outrageous-Vast8395

What’s the best way to set up for studio portraits with two speed lights? I’m looking to do some portraits that can be best described as “school picture day.” The quality I’m looking for is better-than-a-phone. I have a tripod, crop sensor Canon DSLR with a 17-55 f/2.8 and two speedlights, a 470 EX-AI and a Godox TT685IIc. The Godox speedlight is connected to a trigger on my camera hot shoe and the the 470 EX-AI is on…
How to learn to shoot portraits that truly stand out? Any advice on how to take portraits that truly stand out? I love shooting portraits and have been doing so for a while now. However, my photos are always lacking that extra something that can make them go from “just okay” to “good” or even “special”. I’m not sure if it’s my skill level that is lacking or if it’s something else. How does one go a…
Could I setup and sell portraits on the street? I have nothing going on this week and wanted to find a creative way to make some pocket change. I had the idea to setup a pop-up on the street or along a popular walking path (Midtown Atlanta – Beltline) with a simple backdrop and offer a quick headshot or portrait to those walking by for cheap. I don’t expect to make much but thought it would b…

Camera for portraits/kids? Hi! New to photography and wanting a nice camera to take pictures of my kids/family. I don’t see myself branching out into professional photography, so I’m kind of torn on how much to spend on a camera. I’ve been looking at a used Sony a7iii or a new r8. Also been considering cheaper options like a used rebel. It’s all so overwhelming and confu…

Portraits blurry – Is it the camera? Another family and I have been trading taking family photos of each other with another friend’s camera a couple years in a row. It’s a Canon EOS Rebel T31. I’m using my own lens on it, a Canon EF 50mm. I’ve set the camera so that the shutter speed is 1/160. We’re getting enough light. We have the Autofocus on. And yet more than half of the photo…
