When Does “House Poor” No Longer Matter?

When Does “House Poor” No Longer Matter? The general guideline is that you shouldn’t spend more than 30% of your income on rent or a mortgage. But that assumes that all of your other expenses increase proportionately as your income increases. Lifestyle creep is real, but someone making $120K per year doesn’t necessarily have 2x the expenses as someone making $60K per year. Is there a c…

Should I Buy or Rent? Or wait longer to move out?

Should I Buy or Rent? Or wait longer to move out? I’m 24, working full time with $67,000 salary. Savings are: $300,000 in Savings $16,000 IRA $42,000 401K Car paid off Now I am at the point I feel I should prepare to move out of my parents. Of the $300,000 I would be willing/able to use about $200,000 of that towards the down payment, given that with a 20% down payment it’s unlikely I would qua…

Am I the only person that thinks that the Batwoman show would’ve survived longer had Ruby Rose remained in the role?

Am I the only person that thinks that the Batwoman show would’ve survived longer had Ruby Rose remained in the role? Everyone loved her as Batwoman. And thank GOD she was still in the role when COIE happened because the new actress was horrible and even with the magic of editing, the new actress was awful at her lines, her delivery, her choreography, and pretty much everything else it took to be in the role of Batwoman… Ruby Rose had all of that down 100%. What to do with my HSA now that I no longer contribute?

What to do with my HSA now that I no longer contribute? I had a high deductible insurance plan with an HSA, but switched to a different plan in the marketplace a few months ago so I can’t contribute anymore. I was using my HSA balance to make medical payments, and have a little less than $800 remaining. Just noticed they’ve started taking out a $3.95 monthly admin fee, presumably because my balance i…

LPT – when thawing out meat in the microwave, use the lowest power setting for a longer amount of time. My microwave has a defrost setting but it always leaves the meat much worse off than if I use 10% power instead. For 1lb of frozen ground beef, I put it on 10% power for 20 minutes. I try to flip half way through but It it’s fine if I don’t. It always comes out near perfect. This works for any type of frozen meat. submitted by /u/boobrand…

Financed a vehicle I no longer have room for

Financed a vehicle I no longer have room for I am a big motorcycle fan. I had lived in a rental with a garage for many years so always had storage for my bikes. Over the winter I upgraded my motorcycle to one that was better suited to my riding needs. Very happy with the bike and was my daily commuter. Unfortunately I had to move unexpectedly due to a huge increase in rent. (over $600 a mo…

Which is better for my wedding – longer or shorter lashes?

Which is better for my wedding – longer or shorter lashes? The picture on the left (pink shirt) is when I had my makeup done for a friend’s wedding. I really liked my long lashes, which is what I requested for my trial makeup today (pic on the right) However, the lashes the MUA gave me today aren’t quite as long as the other pic. Which is better? Should I keep the length the MUA gave me today or request…

Look for a new job now or ride it out until no longer able to?

Look for a new job now or ride it out until no longer able to? Small family owned company pays me well but that has a lot to do with the trust and dependability established over the past decade and doing things that are outside the my position. Don’t think I could easily get a job paying as much in the area. I looked a little and could probably get a job that pays about ~$25k less. I like the family, and t…
