What is the lighting set up for these images? It seems like the light is coming from the top? With a huge soft box eliminating all shadows but also creating this gradient effect in the background. See the gradient background is so clean and neat it almost looks photoshopped. submitted by /u/Lifedurinwartime
does the first or second lighting suit my makeup style best? submitted by /u/yaycockyumslay
Consistent outdoor lighting for top-down macro shots? Beginner here, just using my phone for now. I really like having the outdoor background, but these small subjects do need a white bckdrop. So I need some way to get consistent daylight temperature/ brightness without casting a shadow. Does anyone know of a small, cheap, portable lighting rig that would work for these type shots? Or any ideas of …
Harsh lighting, is it bad? I think an ND filter could have help in these situations. Or I could have use much smaller aperture. Why do you guys think? Advice is greatly appreciated. Shot on Sony a6400 with 17-70 Tamron f2.8. submitted by /u/kheneee
How to Understand Lighting ? For the first time I rented a studio and tried my hand at lighting for a portrait of my friend… Few minimal setups I kinda copied from Pinterest and YouTube trying to mimic the already tried lighting and I would say those were 40% successful… Then the other setups I kinda went without plan and I was clueless how to light it and I couldn’t co…
How can I recreate this studio lighting? Hi, I’m trying to recreate soft lighting that is similar to these images. How can I approach this? My current kit for lighting is 3 Godox AD300 Pro flash lights and a Godox QR-P70 softbox. Where would I place the lights and how many to use? What output power setting on the lights should I be using? Thank you. submitted by /u/jenni_88
Can you recommend a lighting setup for high resolution photographs of electronics? I am not a photographer so forgive the ignorant questions, I am looking for education. I have a Canon EOS R6 with a variety of lenses. I need to be able to take very clear photographs of electronic components and circuit boards without glare. I’ve seen some lighting setups that seem to work well, including a softbox setup on a big frame and a tr…
Help needed with understanding lighting. How is this picture as a beginner? submitted by /u/megspark
How do I make the lighting look nicer? Hi everyone! I’m very new to photography, seeing as I got this setup literally a week ago haha. I was wondering how to make my pictures less harsh on the lighting? In the provided examples, I have the feeling that the background is very bright. Thanks 🙂 submitted by /u/Sharpheart
Why am I seeing these lines on my photos? Natural and artificial lighting. Camera is Sony W830. I’m not sure shutter speed can be changed due to the lack of features. submitted by /u/Nesslyfinesse
Lighting someone in a small, all glass room? I’m photographing someone in a smaller space and am trying to figure out how to avoid reflections from my light (1 strobe + umbrella). My guess is I may need to forgo the umbrella and bounce the light w/reflector into the ceiling and fill with a white or silver reflector from below the subject. Any advice is appreciated! submitted by /u/S…
What lighting setup do I need to create shots like this? I’m a novice cosplay photographer that has been doing it for a few months as a hobby. I’ve saved dozens of posts from more experienced people but out of all of them, this is by far the one that makes me go “How do I do THAT?!” Photographer is @malimoria on Instagram. This looks to me like it’s highly reminiscent of fashion photography but that c…
Task lighting for kitchen with no upper cabinets. My new kitchen does not have any upper cabinets so I won’t have under cabinet task lighting. I also don’t have to worry about shadows cast by upper cabinets. Where would you place 4″ recessed lighting in terms of distance from the wall? I need good task lighting wihtout shadows cast by my body and also want the kitchen to generally feel as brigh…
Product Photography Lighting Setup? Hey all, I am a photographer already and have a decent amount of gear already. I have primarily done freelance lifestyle shoots for brands – think outdoor clothing apparel, beverages being drank/used in a setting etc. Then couples shoots & weddings using On camera flash and natural lighting. I have experience and quite a few lights already. Imp…
Dark Lighting?? Not a problem submitted by /u/TeragramC
Lighting tips for this style? I came across a series by Mattia Mognetti that really captured my eye. Obviously these are using flash to eliminate everything but the statue, but having never used artificial lighting in an outdoor scenario like this I’m wondering if anyone could provide some tips. submitted by /u/Scottopus
Lighting makes a difference I know people say natural lighting is the best, these are both inside but completely different tones. Photos taken maybe an hour apart. What’s your go to lighting source? *if I could take all my pictures on film I would, it’s brings out all the natural beauty 🥹 submitted by /u/Little-Currency6332
What do I need for professional lighting in real estate photography? So lately I’ve been pursuing a working knowledge of real estate photography. I’m a total noob to professional photography, so there are a lot of things I don’t know, but I’m learning as I go. I’ve been researching relentlessly for a month now on which cameras do what, how important good glass is, and how to choose a camera for my purposes when t…
