Do your hear music or do you FEEL it?

Do your hear music or do you FEEL it? I am curious if there are others like me that do more than just hear music. I’m in a choir and there are some songs I have trouble singing because they make me too emotional. Not sad, per-se, just emotionally overwhelmed. I have a list of songs that make me feel that way. Not because they’re particularly sad songs. These are songs that are just …

Is there a trope name for when characters turn on their TV and we don’t see the screen but we only hear music?

Is there a trope name for when characters turn on their TV and we don’t see the screen but we only hear music? This is a frequent thing of sitcoms. Sometimes the characters mention what they are watching but to avoid actually playing the real show, the TV will only play music and some sound effects. You rarely hear dialogue coming from the TV. Anyone know if this has a name? Find it interesting. submitted by /u/bigbro411

Songs that you can never hear the same way after being featured in a movie/show?

Songs that you can never hear the same way after being featured in a movie/show? Curious is anyone else has experienced this. Ever since The Sopranos finale, ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ by Journey is a haunting song that fills me with dread. It used to sound so inspirational and optimistic, now it sounds like an oncoming panic attack. Or maybe just songs you wouldn’t normally like, but ended up loving after hearing it in somethin…

Is it weird that I don`t hear lyrics, just their phonetic sound?

Is it weird that I don`t hear lyrics, just their phonetic sound? Everyone I`ve ever met have always been amazed at how well I remember song lyrics. I`m therefore often asked how I interpret these songs. And to be honest, I have no idea what the songs are about. To me, song lyrics are just phonetic sounds, on the same level as any other instrument and I don`t consider their meaning. Does anyone else do this? …

Do you hear the words?

Do you hear the words? Sorry if this is a weird question/topic but…… I don’t hear lyrics. Meaning, I don’t distinguish words. The vocals are just another instrument. Of course, some music is all about the hook or chorus and I can’t help but hear it but, I dunno. Am I alone? It’s not a problem, really but im curious if I’m alone. I derive meaning from a song, almos…

Ever hear a line from a song that hits like it was written just for you in that moment in time?

Ever hear a line from a song that hits like it was written just for you in that moment in time? Two big examples from my past are: “No more speed I’m almost there” (Golden Earring, Radar Love) and “Now it seems to me some fine things have been laid upon your table, but you only want the ones that you can’t get” (Eagles, Desperado). Both are from 1973, long before I became the well-adjusted normie I am today. /s submitted by /u/slu…

If you can only hear 3 musicians/bands for the rest of your life, who do you choose?

If you can only hear 3 musicians/bands for the rest of your life, who do you choose? Imagine that for the rest of your life you will only be able to hear 3 musicians, bands, music groups etc. I’d go for The Beatles, Post Malone and Ed Sheeran. On the one hand there is such a catalogue of absolutely timeless music available (Beatles), on the other hand there is a lot of music in the direction of hip hop and pop with Post Malone. …

A little tip to those posting Spotify links. We can’t hear it if we don’t have an account or are not logged in.

A little tip to those posting Spotify links. We can’t hear it if we don’t have an account or are not logged in. If you really want people to hear your music, you would do well to make it as easy as possible. We can listen to music on YouTube, BandCamp or SoundCloud without an account, but not Spotify. Yeah, I have a Spotify account, but rarely use it, so you’ll have to really pique my interest for me to go through the trouble of logging in, which is not l…

I never hear any love for Future Man, but this show was great.

I never hear any love for Future Man, but this show was great. The show had so many good Sci-fi concepts going. I feel like people may not have stuck with it long enough to truly enjoy it. Time travel that wasn’t over used or done in a stupid “Oh no I’m vanishing” way, great characters that grew and learned, and best of all they wrapped it up nicely in 3 seasons before it got stupid. Was it just me that lik…

I feel “old” when I hear “new” music… I consider myself pretty open minded, especially when it comes to music. I played academic guitar for years and I know how to read sheet music pretty efficiently (have to dust the guitars again) but lately I hear “new age” music….and I feel old. One of my clients who is 25 recommened a genre to me, Breakcore, and I couldn’t stand 2 minutes of…
