Taking company headshots – can you help in these areas?

Taking company headshots – can you help in these areas? I’ve done a fair few company headshot jobs over the past few years, but I can’t say I’m ever fully confident going into them. So I’d love to gather some info from fellow photographers on certain areas, which hopefully I can use to improve my general set up and way of working 🙂 Here’s a few points that would be great to get feedback / opinions o…

Most versatile lighting modifiers for professional headshots and portraits?

Most versatile lighting modifiers for professional headshots and portraits? Hi all – I’m fairly new to the studio lighting world, but I’m a long-time photographer. From time to time I do ‘professional headshot’ sessions and up until now I’ve been using a budget continuous LED lighting setup with shoot-through umbrellas for these sessions. But, soon I am getting a pair of strobes with Bowens mounts so I’m ready to explor…

Upcoming Graduation Headshots

Upcoming Graduation Headshots Hello friends! I graduate nursing school the first week of March and our graduation headshots are coming up soon. With professional photos I usually go for an old money, easy, timeless look but i’d like to try incorporating vampy into it. I’m open to any and all ideas! Lately I’ve been playing with purples and grey-beige (pic for reference) but …

Any advice for lighting headshots against a white backdrop?

Any advice for lighting headshots against a white backdrop? I’ve got a shoot coming up for an organisation who’d like their staff headshots taken against white backing paper. This is so they can potentially alter the colour of the background in post in the future to match branding. In terms of equipment I have 3 flash heads and was thinking to place two softboxes lighting the backdrop from either side. I…

Tips for taking headshots that are lower angle?

Tips for taking headshots that are lower angle? Typically, I’ll take headshots from slightly above eye level to make the person look as flattering as possible. For my upcoming shoot, they want me to shoot from a lower angle while they stand on a staircase. Are there any tips to getting this kind of shot, while also making sure they still look flattering? submitted by /u/Burakoli821

How can I improve my headshots?

How can I improve my headshots? Hey everyone! I started a headshot business as a bit of a side hustle about 6 months ago and I’m really keen to improve. The thing I’m struggling with at the minute is nailing that clean, bright light on the models faces. I shoot on a Sony A7III with a fairly cheap nifty fifty. Set up wise I shoot in a studio with a sky light, I then use a octa …

Outdoor headshots for parks department, How did I do?

Outdoor headshots for parks department, How did I do? They are one of my biggest clients for other work and wanted some headshots done. I charged $350, editing took awhile to get rid of stray hairs and a couple shadows. Two people, 12 photos delivered. I only have one off camera flash, two would be better. Wish I had the flash at less of an angle to limit the shadows under the chin. submitted b…

LPT: If you’ve hired a wedding photographer, ask them to take a couple solo headshots.

LPT: If you’ve hired a wedding photographer, ask them to take a couple solo headshots. You’re already there lookin’ great and hopefully happy AF, they’ve got their camera ready to go and presumably the location is nice. It doesn’t take much to go from wedding fancy to regular fancy so ditch boutonnière, veil, or whatever and get a pro to help update your profile pics! EDIT: I’m not talking a photoshoot here, no extra lighting, no …

First professional headshots (for a work website photo and to use when promoting my work) and I’m really nervous. I am not really sure if this is the type of question that gets asked here, but I thought I’d give it a shot! I’m getting a professional headshot done for work and I’ve never had one before. I’m very self conscious about certain things and I usually take 100 pictures before I see one I like. The photographer will be there for over an hour taking …
