The catalytic converter working to clean up the exhaust gasses from your car is a prime target for criminals as it can be worth as much as $1,500 at a scrapyard. Many posts on here saying Hawaii is absurdly expensive. What am I missing? Currently deciding on honeymoon for February. As opposed to a 4 day all inclusive in the Caribbean for $4500, I can get two round trip tickets to Hawaii for $500 each, planning a 10 day trip in HI. The food is more expensive than mainland but not that much. My partner and I don’t drink alcohol either so that’s money saved. Airbnbs are $150/nigh…

I’m going to Hawaii (oahu) in late October and want to do the tourist stuff, but also don’t want to do anything that doesn’t necessarily support native Hawaiians. Is there a luau that isn’t put on by a bunch of white people where the money goes to conservation efforts for Hawaii? Basically, I want to experience Hawaii, but not at the expense of the people that live there. Unfortunately, I am having to stay at one of those bigass hotels due to financial reasons, but my wife and I want to get some authentic, but culturally supportive (not exploitative) experiences. Any suggestions? submitted by /u/maniakzack …
