External flash mount stuck to D3100 hot-shoe. Any tips on getting it unstuck/ off?

External flash mount stuck to D3100 hot-shoe. Any tips on getting it unstuck/ off? I recently (like 30 minutes ago) got hit pretty hard at a hardcore punk show with my camera in my hand, and my (cheap) external flash broke completely off. But the mount is still jammed into my D3100’s hot-shoe. Is there any way to get it unstuck, or is it totally screwed? Thank you! submitted by /u/Spaghettiboi_64

TTL Flash – Flash Compensation?

TTL Flash – Flash Compensation? Flash Compensation I’m pretty familiar with the a7iii and general shooting but decided I needed to add a flash to my kit. I picked up a Neewer Z1 and I’m in the process of learning how to use it in TTL mode. I had a quick question that I thought i could have answered here. The a7iii and and the flash both have the “Flash Compensation” feature……

Lightweight Flash?

Lightweight Flash? I’m in the market again for a new Flash as the power button on my Flashpoint Li-on II bit the dust. My question is, are there any brands out there that take weight into account when building these things? I very much enjoy getting excellent candid family photos, especially indoors, but I find myself more deterred to using my professional camera …

Should I get a flash for sunny day? if so which kind? Thanks!

Should I get a flash for sunny day? if so which kind? Thanks! Hi Looking back at vacation photos, alot of of people’s faces are dark because they were wearing hats. Since asking people to take off their hat all day long is not an option for candid photos, would a flash be the solution? I have never used a flash nor know how to operate one. Would I have to buy a powerful flash, if subjects are, say, 5 meter…

Doing my own makeup for my wedding! Latest iteration. Flash proof?

Doing my own makeup for my wedding! Latest iteration. Flash proof? I love Thai bridal makeup and there’s not many artists in my area that offer that look. After many makeup trials and not being a hundred percent satisfied with them, I’ve decided to do my own makeup for my wedding. This is also my first time using circle lenses. I do have astigmatism in one eye leading them to not sit fully straight at times. I…

Canon R100- Tripod and flash?

Canon R100- Tripod and flash? So, I got my first camera and have been shooting for a couple months now. It’s a Canon R100. I’ve wanted to get a tripod and flash before I look for another lens besides the 18-45mm kit. I’m willing to buy from places like ebay, but they often have things missing and I am not confident in all the parts I need to actually use a tripod over online…

Flash and trigger compatibility?

Flash and trigger compatibility? I’m trying to wrap my brain around off camera flash but i’m so lost. I originally thought i could just buy a flash and it would work off camera. Then found out I’d need a transmitter and was looking into Godox but saw something that suggested TTL won’t work with my camera and that I’d need a receiver for the transmitter which could then send the…

What is an acceptable misfire rate for Sony HVL-F28RM flash unit?

What is an acceptable misfire rate for Sony HVL-F28RM flash unit? Or modern flashes in general? I got a Sony HVL-F28RM flash in “good used” condition from Amazon and I’m still within the return window. I tried it with some alkaline batteries lying around the house and the misfires were pretty bad. So I got a pack of pre-charged NiMH enveloop pro, made sure they were fully charged, and just took 214 random pho…

Picking an external flash for handheld macro photography for Nikon – Godox v860ii, tt350 mini, or tt685ii? I am looking for an external flash for macro photography but I cannot decide which to get out of the Godox v860ii, tt350, or tt685ii for handheld macro photography of wildlife.
