Is it normal for lens flare to not start at the edge of the frame?

Is it normal for lens flare to not start at the edge of the frame? This is taken with a canon r8 + sigma art 85mm (adapted to rf) I notice that whenever I get flaring from overhead lights, it always occurs offset from tbe edge of the frame. This looks much worse than if the flare was present but went all the way to the edge. Is this typical behavior on any lens? A quirk of the sigma art 85mm? Something wrong wi…

Is the lens flare in the photo good or bad?

Is the lens flare in the photo good or bad? I’m a beginner photographer with barely any proper experience other than just taking pictures when I go out. This is on a Panasonic LUMIX G95 with a 12-60mm lens. Does the lens flare add anything to the picture in your opinion or do they just obstruct it. I always find myself taking pictures with the sun in it and idk if I should use a lens hood…

Getting rid of lens flare?

Getting rid of lens flare? I am re-editing an older image I took in San Francisco six years ago and it is an otherwise good (in my opinion) image with the exception of a horribly noticeable lens flare. I have tried following instructions in a YouTube tutorial in using Affinity to do a frequency separation followed by using the clone brush, healing brush, and sponge brush …

“Giant lens flare” defect not showing in viewfinder but on picture?

“Giant lens flare” defect not showing in viewfinder but on picture? I bought a very cheap 85mm fully manual lens that seems to deliver quite sharp images. However, if light passes from the side (like through a window indoors), the image gets completely blown/washed out. Like a giant lens flare affecting the whole sensor surface. Even with the lens hood, this still occurs. Only manually blocking the light with my…

Weird lens flare on retro obejective?

Weird lens flare on retro obejective? So I like to buy older lenses and adapt them to E-Mount (A5000). Today I tested a Beroflex MC auto zoom 80-200mm f3.9 and had this wierd lens flare on some of my pictures in the lower left corner. It’s only in the pictures of the duck I took. (Yes I know both aren’t in focus) How does this happen? It almost looks like an rectangle with a gradien…

Lens flare or something else?

Lens flare or something else? Sometimes I get this whispy spot on my photos. It seems to always be in the same place. Reminder, it only happens on some frames–no pattern from what I can tell. How was this light flare effect achieved?

How was this light flare effect achieved? https://www.instagram.com/p/C5vpjrSLiX5/ There is clearly significant photoshop work in the image, but I am wondering if there a way to achieve that neat cross-hatch type of flaring on the stadium lights using a lens or filter or something? Or was that effect just added in photoshop/post? And if so, how? submitted by /u/RealNotFake

Is this lens flare? Tamaron 70-180 G2 Cropped, exporsure adjusted Hi all, Was out testing the new Tamaron 70-180 G2 on my A7IV and noticed this odd light phenomena in one of the photos. The lens has a Tamaron 67mm UV filter on and no lens hood. Curious if anyone is able to tell if this is actually lens flare, or just the light bouncing through the window? I’ve included one exposur…
