What were the old 70s and 80s shows filmed on?

What were the old 70s and 80s shows filmed on? Shows like All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Three’s Company, etc. had a certain look to them and for some odd reason I love the way they look, it’s like a cozy feeling. Was it videotape they were filmed on? It’s a shame they didn’t keep up with this for later sitcoms. submitted by /u/guyinawintercoat1

What were the best shows filmed in front of real audiences?

What were the best shows filmed in front of real audiences? I’m watching a video on Married… With Children, and the audience was basically a character of its own on this show. It really took the show to another level. I can’t really think of any other sitcom that had a real audience while filming aside from Fresh Prince. Maybe Home Improvement? submitted by /u/DueMaternal
