What’s an average price to have a DSLR professionally cleaned? I have an older canon Rebel t5 that I use as a secondary/backup camera, and wondering if it’s even worth getting cleaned. It has some small hairs and gunk in its optics that I simply can’t get out. submitted by /u/agent_uno
Metering with a DSLR ? Hi, can someone please advise if setting the metering (spot/centre weighted/matrix etc) is necessary when shooting in manual mode, or is it only for semi-manual modes (aperture priority etc) ? Still trying to get my head around metering. submitted by /u/Aussiebrat7
Looking to buy a versatile DSLR for Northern Lights, Wildlife, and Macro, maybe some video. I feel like these subjects tend to be at odds with each other lol. Am I asking for the world by hoping to capture all these subjects with one camera? If I had to pick 2, it would be wildlife and macro. My budget is around $2500 for body and lenses and I would say my experience level is mid-beginner. I had a rebel camera kit with an 18-55mm IS l…
DSLR over 35mm? So, obviously new to photography. Got into film cause I figured used 35mm cameras would be cheaper than buying digital and I like the medium. While I love the format and how the pictures are coming out, I’m realizing that film + scan/upload gets pricey quick. So far I have: Minolta Maxxim 500si (18-55mm lens, 70-300mm lens) Minolta X-370 (49mm…
Is it worth it to get a DSLR as B-cam? Apologies in advance for the incoherent post. So I have been shooting with an a7iv for a while now paired with a sigma art 24-70. I am happy with most of the shots I get, its a fantastic camera. Before switching to Sony I used to shoot with a Nikon DSLR and what I liked about it or DSLRs in general was the ability to use infrared focus assist o…
DSLR or mirrorless? Hi. I needed some help as to whether I should get a DSLR or a mirrorless camera. Personally, prior to this, I have used a Nikon D3100 and a mid-range smartphone to capture photos. I am currently planning to buy a Canon 700D and an EF-S 18-135mm lens. Recently, I stumbled across the mirrorless category of cameras, and I wondered if it would be …
Do I need to worry about condensation forming on a dslr when going from warm to cold? Some sources say it’s only cold to warm that makes condensation, some say it’s both. What’s your experience? submitted by /u/Galariax

Advice – DSLR/Mirrorless for beginners Hello everyone. I’m not an expert in DSLRs/Mirrorless (always used my phone) but I do love outdoor photography so looking for advice on what to buy. Should I stay with my Nikon DSLR or switch? Hi everyone, I would like your opinion on the following situation: Some months ago I got a Nikon D3300 + Kit Lens (AF-P DX NIKKOR 18–55 mm 1:3,5–5,6G VR) for a reasonable price (160€) as my first DSLR (I only had a cheap point and shoot camera many years ago before that) and love it so far. Now comes the unfortunate part: I recently bought the w…
Selling old DSLR gear is horrible nowadays The price for used DSLR and lenses are deeply declining. And only newbies (noobies) will only interest in them and I feel like taking advantage of them when selling the dead system. Other people heavily haggling at DSLR sale posts. I will say MPB and KEH are only the best way to offload these old DSLR camera and lenses. Are there anyone who foun…
Pixel 8 Pro 50MP photos way sharper than 7 Pro & DSLR I’m surprised by how much sharper 8 Pro photos are than my P7 Pro. I tested on a tripod at 50 megapixels with the same focal point for both phones and repeated the test a few times. An Arstechnica user also found the P8 Pro to be sharper than their Canon 6D full frame DSLR. They reportedly had a $1300 16-35mm F4 lens. I expected the P8 to be mor…

Best rain gear for DSLR? What are ya’ll using for rain gear? I have a canon dslr and am wondering if my best bet is the clear rain sleeves/protectors via Amazon? Powering a DSLR with USB? I have a Nikon D5500 and I’m beginning to shot astrophotography photos with it. Of course the shutter will be open for extended times and I’m wondering if there are any ways to use a USB battery bank to power my Nikon. I see ways (YouTube) to open an old battery and wire it up to use USB but I’m not that technical. Any products you can buy that …
