Expressing crop percentage correctly? I’m having trouble understanding how to express crop percentage. If I have a 16mp original image and I crop away 3/4 of the frame, do I describe that as a “”25% crop”? Directly from the image I’m thinking of: 16 mp original (Fujifilm x-e2, apsc) and the final cropped version is 3.28mb. What crop is that? Thanks! submitted by /u/Embarrasse…

LPT: Use the ‘how many hours worked will this cost me’ mental shortcut correctly

LPT: Use the ‘how many hours worked will this cost me’ mental shortcut correctly We often think, “that $60 game is only 3 hours of work at $20/hr.” But try this instead: After setting aside all budgeted expenses, let’s say you have $200 left each month. Divide that by your work hours, like 160 hours/month: $200 / 160 hours = $1.25/hour (your true earnings per hour). Now, check the real cost: $60 item / $1.25/hour = 48 ho…

do I understand capital gain tax correctly? So say I have 100K in my stock portfolio and after a year it grows to 150k. If I sell 50k worth of my portfolio it will be taxed but as a long term capital gain tax rate. If I file jointly with my wife I get that money tax free however that 50k is applied to my income tax total which if we make 150k/year then my taxable income would be 200k. D…

Am I understanding this correctly that my employer is offering a 4% match, 100% invested, as well as profit sharing? If so, is this a good plan? Edit: Title should say “100% vested” not “100% invested” lol I’m 29 and only make about 50k a year at a commission based job tat pays an 8$/hour base pay. A Gentleman in Moscow is one of the only series to do flashbacks correctly

A Gentleman in Moscow is one of the only series to do flashbacks correctly One of my issues with flashbacks as they’re usually done is that you see it from a third person perspective. Since it’s a memory told by a particular person, it should be done from a first person perspective. Which will from time to time take me out of the story. Yet during A Gentleman in Moscow, the flashbacks were shown through the first perso…

Just had a lightbulb moment while chatting with a friend. You know how sometimes we get so caught up in our own thoughts that we forget to really listen to what the other person is saying? Well, I’ve got a little trick that’s been helping me out: summarize what they’ve said before responding. It’s not only a sign of respect for their perspective…
