Why have “guest star of the week” scripted shows like The Love Boat or Fantasy Island been replaced by reality TV competition nonsense? You’d think as an actor you’d rather do a scripted show than yet another Celebrity Survivor ripoff. When reality TV came along, they said it was cheaper than scripted shows because you didn’t have to hire actors.
