Infuriating TV characters

Infuriating TV characters I am trying to watch Billions for the second time but cannot stand the Chuck Rhoades character. I stopped watching the first time because of him, but decided to try again. Again, can’t stand him. I know it’s a character and he’s an awesome actor, but still. Homeland was a great show but the Carrie Mathison character drove me crazy. Again, excell…

What shows have awful mother characters who never grow, or even get worse as the show goes on?

What shows have awful mother characters who never grow, or even get worse as the show goes on? I’m finishing up Fresh Off the Boat and one thing I’ve noticed is how much worse the character of Jessica Huang has become. She’s invasive, self-centered, self-righteous, a bully, and episode after episode she “learns” of how being awful is hurtful to everyone she cares about, and acts like she’s going to change. But then she is just as awful or…

Mutually obsessed female characters

Mutually obsessed female characters Countless stories have been told about male characters mutually obsessed with one another (eg. Batman & The Joker), but what about female characters? Lovers, friends, frenemies or enemies – with genuine unhealthy obsession (not just normal human feelings). Some examples off the top of my head: Eve Polastri & Villanelle (Killing Eve) Batwoman & …

Is there a trope name for when characters turn on their TV and we don’t see the screen but we only hear music?

Is there a trope name for when characters turn on their TV and we don’t see the screen but we only hear music? This is a frequent thing of sitcoms. Sometimes the characters mention what they are watching but to avoid actually playing the real show, the TV will only play music and some sound effects. You rarely hear dialogue coming from the TV. Anyone know if this has a name? Find it interesting. submitted by /u/bigbro411

What are the most egregious examples of “main characters don’t wear helmets” syndrome?

What are the most egregious examples of “main characters don’t wear helmets” syndrome? Executives pays good money for actors and wants you to be able to see their entire face, so often main characters won’t wear helmets even in situations where they really should be wearing one for their own wellbeing, as demonstrated by the fact that all of the extras around them are wearing helmets into battle. The same applies to characters not…

What is that thing cartoon characters do with their fingers before eating called?

What is that thing cartoon characters do with their fingers before eating called? Not sure if this is where to ask, but I’m going to wing it. You know when like, Homer Simpson is about to eat something and he raises his hands and curls each of his fingers individually for a moment while going “Mmmmm!” What is that called? I don’t really care about why they do it, but it’d also be cool to know. submitted by /u/According…

LPT: the next time you watch a mystery movie and want to find out who the antagonist might be, watch out for the phones that the characters use.

LPT: the next time you watch a mystery movie and want to find out who the antagonist might be, watch out for the phones that the characters use. Why? Because Apple has a strict policy that won’t allow movie villains to use iPhones or any Apple products in a movie (regardless of the genre). This has been proved many times by various news outlets, such as The Guardian, The Verge, and even Rian Johnson, the director of “Knives Out” (in which the villain wasn’t allowed to use an iPhone). …

What are some instances where two characters had palpable chemistry but never got together? My examples are: Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler in SVU. Captain Janeway and Chakotay in Voyager. The bot told me I had to make the text post exceed 100 characters so I’m just writing this as filler. It’s a beautiful day today. Slightly on the hot side. I had a cappuccino and a croissant for breakfast. I hope that’s enough characters. Have…

Who are some evil characters that are very enjoyable to watch?

Who are some evil characters that are very enjoyable to watch? I’m going to have to go with Dan Scott from One Tree Hill because that is what I am currently watching. He is such a POS and basically ruins everyone’s lives but the actor Paul Johansson plays him so well that I am always locked to the screen whenever he is on. I hate the character as a person but he’s always super interesting to watch on screen…

For all it’s flaws, the most unrealistic part of the original Gossip Girl is how many activities the characters participate in/accomplish before school.

For all it’s flaws, the most unrealistic part of the original Gossip Girl is how many activities the characters participate in/accomplish before school. I don’t know about anyone else, but it was always a struggle for me just to make it out of bed in time not to be late to my first class in high school. But in Gossip Girl the characters are: fully dressed to the nines, having full breakfasts with waffles and eggs, going out to purchase pastries or do other shopping, and having important meetings…

Justified is still amazing TV and after a rewatch my perceptions of some characters has really changed.

Justified is still amazing TV and after a rewatch my perceptions of some characters has really changed. We just finished a rewatch a week or so ago. It is a fucking great show from start to finish, though the first season is probably the slowest burn. I have a massive man crush on Timothy Olyphant, dude is cool as fuck and Raylan Givens is probably the greatest lawman in TV history. The crazy thing is, on this rewatch (first since finishing the sh…
