LPT: If you have any work done in your ceiling by contractors you should check that they have put back any insulation they might have moved around. If the insulation has been not been put back in place after you’ve had anyone working in the ceiling, like putting in airconditioning or ceiling lights, your insulation is ineffective. Found this out checking the ceiling a year after work was done. submitted by /u/gamgee_wheelhouse

Need help picking paint color for high ceiling

Need help picking paint color for high ceiling We just moved into a new house and are having trouble picking a paint color for our large formal dining room. We are getting rid of the green and are thinking of going with a dusty blue to pair with the blue china in our hutch (see last 3 photos), but are open to suggestions. Our dining table is the same color as the hutch. One challenge is we’…

LPT: Get a helium balloon down from the ceiling.

LPT: Get a helium balloon down from the ceiling. I literally learnt this yesterday and it’s a game changer as I work in a bar and balloons get stuck on the ceiling far more than I’d like to admit, plus it’s also really fun. Get a spray bottle, specifically one where you can turn the spray into a single stream jet (most have a little twisty thing on the nozzle that will do this). Fill it with w…

I’m thinking of replacing the track lighting and blah fan with this fan with integral light (last pic). I want to be sure because the ceiling is very high so I can’t change my mind! submitted by /u/Apart-Event-9228

Wall moulding in a high ceiling room?

Wall moulding in a high ceiling room? Hello there, I am renovating my chalet in Switzerland and absolutely love wall moulding onto plaster boards to give a bit more sophisticated look than a plain wall. However, my living room has this cathedral ceiling (not quite sure how to properly translate it), i.e the ceiling is not flat as the living room is below the roof. Ceiling high is 4…

Wallpaper on ceiling? Darker rug? We want to add some more funky – ness to this front room— just got the basics down and would love some ideas! Some notes: —it gets lots of light (shade closed in photo), —It’s not a primary living room so doesn’t have to be anything super functional -there is a a weird cut out of the hardwoods the previous owner did to cute costs under the larg…

Which ceiling looks best?

Which ceiling looks best? We are hesitating between these 2 colors for our PVC ceilings. White one is more of a safe bet, though I feel like the wooden one adds more warmth. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/wackodindon

HELP! Hanging curtains on different ceiling heights

HELP! Hanging curtains on different ceiling heights So. I had hung floor to ceiling curtains by our couch (pic 1), but felt like it needed to be extended on the walls a bit, and also needed a curtain by the far right balcony door/windows. Our ceiling has a weird ting going on by the door, and in an attempt to gain balance in the room decided to hang them at the same lower height(pic2). I did the …

What flooring would you install throughout the house, working with this ceiling?

What flooring would you install throughout the house, working with this ceiling? I’m wondering what flooring might pair with the ceiling to modernise the house? We prefer timber. Lighter / darker / try to match tone? We have this wedding vaulted ceiling in our living dining area, and standard 2.4m (8ft) painted plasterboard curling in the rest of the house. The house is a high poleframe timber house on a steep slope (flexibl…
