Should I get a diffuser or an off-camera flash trigger and stand for outdoor portraits? A few days ago I did a test run with a bare flash on-camera. Half of the time, I end up with the deer-in-headlights effect. Do I buy a diffuser or get a trigger and stand? My priority is to have a simple setup, since I only have manual lenses. submitted by /u/Rebubliccountry

Mirrorless camera for a beginner under 2000$ Hi! First of all- I am a total beginner in photography. Me and my girlfriend travel a lot and want to switch from iPhone photography to something better. It is also not a temporary hobby, but something I was thinking about last years and finally have money and time to do it. I want to shoot photos of wildlife, sports (motorsports mostly), places…
Best compact 35mm camera for night life Hey everyone. I’m fairly new to shooting film, I’d like to get a small compact 35mm camera that is good for photographs in Bars and Clubs. Nothing very big because I don’t want to draw much attention or stick a camera in anyone’s face in that type of environment. What would you recommend? submitted by /u/Crafty-Appeal3861
Helping a friend upgrading from phone camera These days I’m trying to help a friend with his camera upgrade from his Pixel 7 and Samsung S23 Ultra phones to a real camera. His main business is shooting close-ups and macro shots of small products, often on the go but indoors as well and now wants to up his game in IQ. He would need a good compact camera with a decent lens for close-ups and …
Camera system/lens suggestions w/ pricing Hi! Trying to get an idea of what system I should be investing in. I’m slowly building up a clientele of lifestyle family/newborn type of work. Personally, I enjoy taking pictures of wildlife and landscape as well though. Currently have an M50 w/ the 15-45 mm & 32 mm 1.4 for shoots with people. What system and lenses should I be looking at that …
Looking to buy my first camera and lens Hello, I am looking into getting in photography and this seems like a great sub to get advice! I am a complete novice and I have been trying to read reviews but I have a hard time understanding everything that is being said on the sites. From what I can tell the R10, Z50 and x-s10 are good options, but I don’t understand all the reasons why they…

Should I invest in a camera? Since I went sober I’ve been taking more and more photos on my free time. I love doing it. I take and post the ones I love. People keep telling me I should take it more serious and invest in a camera. But they’re friends telling me this. I would like to hear from strangers. Based off these photos should I invest and take it more serious? Btw all…
I want a travel camera that does it all (AND 50mm): Leica Q2 or Fujifilm x100v? I’m set on these two models but wonder if the Q2 crop mode for 50mm would be the same as using the Fuji 50mm teleconverter? Will both have distortion for portraits? Hear me out: I have a specific need. I love shooting more wide angle (28mm and 35mm) but I also love shooting at 50mm. I really want to get rid of my huge Fuji XT4 kit (for the excep…
In camera double exposure advice Looking for advice on how I could improve my technique for shooting in-camera double exposure. Both images are SOOC other than crop/straighten in LR. I haven’t dabbled in double exposure since my days in the darkroom but I’d like to get into it again. For double exposure shooters, is it more common to combine images in post or in camera? I’m mo…
Another first camera recommendation – Canon R100? Hi all, I’ve done a search on first camera recommendations but have gotten even more confused. Can you recommend me 1-2 options given the follow criteria. These are the things I’ve narrowed down: Goal I’m looking to capture still, well-lit environments, with a particular focus on people and the spaces around them (not portrait, or spaces). Inte…
What’s the process on purchasing a used camera? Hi, I’ve got a question and was hoping this would be the right place to get an answer. I’m a beginner and plan on purchasing a used camera through Facebook market place. I was wondering if there was anything I could do or look for to verify that the camera is in good condition and authentic? The Camera is a Sony a7 III. The owner said that the c…
What is the best editing process to follow to improve/recover an old photo (old camera/smartphone)? This is an old photo of mine, taken in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro in 2017. Despite the smartphone camera being what it was, I still kinda like this picture and am trying to “improve” its quality as best as I can on LR. I was wondering – do you have any suggestions on editing that could help me improve photos such as this one? Thank you! sub…

What should I check for when potentially buying a used mirrorless camera? I’m planning to purchase a Sony A6000 from FB Marketplace and as a beginner have no idea how what to look for to make sure I’m purchasing a good working camera. Besides physically inspecting the camera, I will take a few pics and open them up on my laptop. Anything else I should be checking? submitted by /u/Surfer949
Need help deciding my next camera gears (R5 vs A7RV) Hi friends. This is my first post here, and I apologize in advance. This is going to be a long one. A little background on who I am and what I shoot. I am a software developer 5 days a week. During weekends and holidays, I wear the photographer’s hat. I have been photographing nature and landscapes since 2010. Started with the 600D, then upgrade…
After seeing how ridiculous a GFX camera retains detail even after a huge amount of crop, been thinking whether FULL FRAME crops (100%) are unnoticeable and very much usable? My Fuji-X shows obvious quality drops after cropping After noticing that I couldn’t crop significantly on my XT2 XT3 cameras without losing much detail, I’m beginning to wonder if FF might be worth the switch, and whether I could get away with fewer lenses by just cropping e.g. cropping a 50mm shot to make it look like an 85 or something? I hope that makes sense. Just saw how a GFX photo is still …
