ELI5: why is the bond market “crashing” if the yield is the highest in the last decade?

ELI5: why is the bond market “crashing” if the yield is the highest in the last decade? Can someone explain this to me? Given that the Treasury yield is the highest it’s been in awhile, shouldn’t now be a great time to put some of my portfolio into the bond market like Treasury bills/notes? Why are all the news articles say the bond market is crashing and that it’s not a good sign? Thank you! submitted by /u/Lt_Wallaby007

US Treasury Bond Rate

US Treasury Bond Rate The 20 year US treasury bond rate is now at 5.27%. Has anyone considered buying at that rate? If not what rate would you start to consider it? As I understand the yield is simple interest paid out semiannually and would incur federal (but not state) income tax with each distribution. The fact that it is simple interest makes it far far less appe…

Who else loves James Bond songs?

Who else loves James Bond songs? I really wonder if there’s other people except me who really love music from James Bond movies. Personally, I think that there aren’t many other songs, especially film music, that are such a piece of art. Like everything seems to harmonize and fit so well together. Whenever I don’t know what to listen to, I just head to my James Bond themed play…

Series I bond bought in October 2022 not making the interest I thought it would I purchased a $10,000 Series I bond on October 5th 2022. At that time, the rate was 9.62% (0% fixed). Since November 2022, the rate has been 6.89% (0.4% fixed). But my treasury direct account shows that my balance is $10,592 (close to 6.48% per month for 11 months).
