Can you be a co-signer if you’ve filled bankruptcy in the past? (North California.)

Can you be a co-signer if you’ve filled bankruptcy in the past? (North California.) I was hoping to get my dad as a co-signer for an apartment as he’s been good with his payments lately (supposedly.) But he filed for bankruptcy before maybe over 3 years ago. Would that automatically disqualify him from being a co-signer for an apartment? I would appreciate any help and insight. submitted by /u/NMS_clvntng
