Is it ok to overexpose for a backlit portrait? I understand that it’s better to underexpose and bring up the shadows in post processing. However, I think that exposing for the persons face gets better colors than having to bring up the shadows later in post process. Best Photo AI software to fix backlit photos? Have a couple of photos where the only thing wrong with them is that they are backlit by the sun/sunset, and so the faces in the photos are not crisp. How can I better avoid highlight blowouts when shooting backlit images? Hello! So I’ve seen some beautiful backlit photos taken outdoors. Should I be exposing for the highlights? Is it more of a positioning thing? I just don’t want to have grainy subjects if I expose for the sky. I shoot in raw so I can save the most data possible in each photo.
