Macros Lens Autofocus or Manual ? Very amateur photographer using a Sony a6000. I’m looking to dable in some macro photography. I can get a manual focus TTartisans lens for pretty cheap but I’ve never used a MF lens before so just wondering if I’ll be missing anything drastic by using MF. Also the Sony a6000 does not have in body stability, is it possible to shoot off hand macro…

how to easily see if my image will be in focus in both manual and autofocus through the viewfinder? It’s just so small and i wear glasses so i also can’t always get my eye perfectly aligned with it. I have a analog film slr that has a split prism in the viewfinder that makes it much easier, but my d5100 doesnt have that. In manual focusi…

What is the best way for me to focus stack? Do I need autofocus if I upgrade my camera? Hello! I enjoy doing macro photos, and have recently gotten interested in learning to focus stack. I take photos outside and not in a studio space, and am trying to photograph live insects. I won’t use dead ones or put them in the fridge or anything like that for personal reasons. My impression is that to get a good depth of field in high magnif…

Autofocus with an IBIS camera and non AF lenses?

Autofocus with an IBIS camera and non AF lenses? So I heard that with IBIS cameras as the sony a6600 or a6500 you can autofocus with non AF lenses as vintage ones or just “normal” cheap lenses without autofocus. If so, would it make sense to go for an a6600 instead of an a6400 and get cheaper non AF lenses? (I can get the a6400 for around 550€ used and the a6600 for around 800€) submitted …

Can’t autofocus on faraway objects in the sky anymore. What’s the fix?

Can’t autofocus on faraway objects in the sky anymore. What’s the fix? My Nikon DSLR used to be pretty good with getting shots like these when I take pictures of planes from a couple of miles away with autofocus on, but I haven’t been getting luck with that recently. It’s shots of planes with a sky backdrop that I’m having issues with. They have to get within around a few hundred or around a thousand feet away from…

Z5 vs ? Autofocus…

Z5 vs ? Autofocus… Recently switched from a canon m50 to a z5 and while the iq is great and I appreciate all the dials for quick setting changes, the autofocus system is kind of a buzz kill. I went back and forth about it before purchasing and just hoped it wasn’t as bad as I’ve heard but low light or not, it’s just not nearly as intuitive as the canon was. Now de…

How do I get this autofocus mode on my Sony a7III?

How do I get this autofocus mode on my Sony a7III? In this video, around the 2:19 mark, Julia Trotti is comparing the eye AF of the Sony’s a7III and the a7IV. It would appear that her a7III is auto-tracking her eye without someone holding down the respective custom button to activate that feature. I matched what she said her settings were, and my camera doesn’t do that. I asked in the comments a…

Is the autofocus in the Nikon Z series really as bad as all these threads say? I am just getting back into photography and starting to save up for a switch to mirrorless as it seems to be the future. From research I’ve done so far, it seems canon really wins in most categories, which was the norm at least with video back when I used cameras more often, but I’m mainly concerned about autofocus for stills. 90% of my shots a…
