do long lenses like 300mm at “tight aperture” like f 6.3 still have enough bokeh?

do long lenses like 300mm at “tight aperture” like f 6.3 still have enough bokeh? my lenses are 35/50/85mm 1.8 primes. and i love shooting at like 2.8 for lots of bokeh. i want to get a 70-300mm f4.3-f6.3 lens, when i look at f6.3 automatically i think it’s bad and won’t have the bokeh depth of field i want. but if i am shooting birds and the background will usually be really far away because it’s all outdoors, would there st…

Can someone help me understand why my aperture photos look like this? (w/ photos) Hi everyone, I’m brand new to photography but been watching lots of videos on YouTube. Took my camera out for a walk yesterday and took some nice (for me) photos using either full auto or full manual modes. Today was reading up on aperture priority and shutter priority settings and when to use them. However, I’ve found that going into the apertu…

constant aperture question (camera vs. lens)?

constant aperture question (camera vs. lens)? Hi, Friends – I’m using my friend’s canon 15-35mm f/2.8 lens on a canon r6mii camera this weekend. As a novice, I’m confused as to why the lens is a constant 2.8, but on the camera itself I can stop down? Isn’t the whole point that I maintain the 2.8 through the entire focal range? submitted by /u/thatalsaceguy

Is aperture equivalency a thing?

Is aperture equivalency a thing? Hey, I’ve always thought that there was some kind of equivalency between sensor sizes like focal length do. But these last few days, watching some photography content, I heard people saying omitting the equivalency for aperture (for exemple for a Ricoh GRIII “28mm eq, f2.8”) or someone talking about how great his compact camera was for low light…

Why can’t my lens take sharp photos at maximum aperture?

Why can’t my lens take sharp photos at maximum aperture? I own a Tamron 28-300mm 3.5/6.3 A06, the version without the image stabilizer. When I shoot with the widest aperture, the photos often come out with very blurry, soft edge, not sharp. This is different from when I stop down the aperture; in that case, the photos turn out much sharper, although obviously at the expense of depth of field and the a…

How can I efficiently learn how to use aperture and shutter speed adjustments on this camera?

How can I efficiently learn how to use aperture and shutter speed adjustments on this camera? Hi everyone! I inherited this from my grandmother who loved photography, and I want to be able to master it. I first thought about taking my digital camera as a guide to set shutter speed and aperture, but I’m not sure if that’s the best way to learn using this camera and the best is just go with trial and error. The films are expensive and I j…

I’m an amateur with a sony a6100 and sigma 16mm f/1.4 shooting mostly pictures of my kid and wondering how to choose aperture? I saw a recommendation that you shouldn’t always shoot wide open. as an amateur i’ve fallen into the trap that bokeh looks amazing and is the most important especially when taking cute pictures of my kid. I usually shoot at 1.4 because i take pictures inside and want to maximize shutter speed and minimize iso. Is there any reason to be shooting …

Looking for a lens with manual aperture adjustment. What would that be called? I’ve been using a analog camera for a bit, and found it easier to use the aperture through a sliding ring, instead of going through menus on my digital one. Is there a specific term for that?
