Leaving for Great Sand Dunes national park in less than a week. Is there anything I can do between now and then to teach myself how to take a great photo of the Milky Way? I have no experience with any kind of Astro photography, but I’d love to capture a somewhat decent photo of the Milky Way out there where there’s no light pollution, as I live in a place with horrible light pollution. I will be bringing a Nikon 18-55mm lens, is it even possible to take a picture of the Milky Way with a pretty basic DSLR camera …
