Where did I go wrong? Please help with my antique booth I have put so much of my heart, money and time into starting a little antique booth at my local market. Not sure where I went wrong with the design but it’s definitely all very wrong. I wanted it to look English cottage, with a bit of French country. I wanted it to feel warm, cozy, feminine, soft. It giving none of that. It’s gray and cold. I’v…

Can anyone advise me on how to clean antique stereoscope photos? I have a bunch of these old stereoscope photos that belonged to a family member. Unfortunately they weren’t stored properly and are very dirty. I brushed off as much of the dust and spider webs as possible, but I’m hesitant to attempt to wash off any of the caked on dirt. There are a handful of them that are damaged beyond repair that I can prac…

How do I blend antique furniture with a modern vibe? How can I give our primary bedroom a modern vibe while using antique furniture? I just inherited antique bedroom furniture (2 side tables, dresser, vanity & stool). My partner doesn’t like it but knows it’s important to me that we keep it. The room is practically empty since we’re starting from scratch. Any suggestions? submitted by /…

It’s wild how diffe…

LPT: Instead of buying cheap plastic dinnerware, buy used restaurantware. It’s very sturdy and the vintage stuff is inexpensive if you don’t have to pay shipping (i.e., buy it from a local antique shop or at an estate sale). Restaurantware is very resilient — it resists chips and breakage to an incredible extent. There are a lot of great vintage patterns (see, e.g., Syracuse, Iroquois or Buffalo china). There’s a lot of this stuff about, sold at antique shops or on eBay, Etsy or similar. If you don’t have to pay the shipping (sturdy = heavy), you’ll find you can ow…

I just took over an antique textile business! A big part of our business is working with interior designers – and I love it! I’m posting on here for some exposure to the designers on reddit, and would love some input from you. Have you used antique textiles as decoration? How do you display them, or make them into something else? What are you looking for when buying textiles meant for deco…
