LPT: To protect your hearing — Get a supply of earplugs and always keep a pair on you when you go out. Then if you’re in an unexpectedly loud environment, you can pop them in. If you’re self-conscious about looking ‘uncool’ for wearing them, order clear coloured ones, which are mostly unnoticeable I’m telling y’all, as someone with tinnitus from being a musician who was careless about ear protection and now regrets it: don’t play with your hearing. Noise-induced hearing loss adds up and can be permanent, and hearing loss in general is associated with dramatically higher dementia risks in later life. Seems obvious, but there are so many ti…
I have always loved street photography, and it’s very therapeutical to just walk about, looking for something worth capturing. These are some of my favourites, taken from a variety of focal lengths, mostly 50mm. What’s your honest opinion of them? submitted by /u/gamma-ray-bursts
LPT Request: How do I stop being the friend that always gets mad fun of? For as long as I remembered, I’ve always been the butt of the joke in the various friend groups and social settings I’ve been. While I understand that’s how people play around and have done my fair share of teasing myself towards my friends, some of them take it too far and do it so often it doesn’t feel like a joke anymore. I usually try to lau…
LPT: Just because you get an opportunity to further your career doesn’t mean it’s always the right move. When you’re younger and professionally ambitious you’re going to grab every opportunity to work your way up the ladder. But just because a position is higher than yours doesn’t mean it’ll make you happier. Figure out what level of work/life balance makes you happy. If you’re lucky enough to reach that point, it’s ok to stay there. You don’t need…
Google Pixel 8’s new setup process is easy, but doesn’t always let you use a cable submitted by /u/cleare7
LPT: First dates should always be drinks or coffee. Not dinner. Easier and quicker to leave the date if there is no chemistry. Trust me. As someone who has been on a fair amount of first dates from online dating, dinner dates can be the worst way to first meet someone. You can usually tell within a few minutes if you’re into someone. You don’t want to be stuck there waiting for a full meal if you already know it’s not gonna work out. submitted by /u/flux_capacito…
Is it normal to always feel like I can’t actually afford what I’m buying? Whether it’s a haircut, an oil change, healthy-ish groceries, a tuxedo rental for a friend’s wedding… Is it normal to feel like I probably shouldn’t be buying literally any of this stuff? Even though I don’t really know how to live without it? submitted by /u/1cognoscere
How’s that the same booking in booking.com is always more expensive from Germany? I’ve seen this over and over, last occurrence was checking a place in Vienna and the price I would get from booking.com was 1400 euros for 3 nights where as a friend of mine from Sweden would show him for 11000sek ( less than 1k euro ). Its a complete ripoff and it cant be just taxes, come on.. submitted by /u/kyiv_star

Call him 7-Eleven: Ja’Marr Chase’s new chain points out that he’s ‘always open’ Ja’Marr Chase emphasized his declaration that he’s “always open” with a chain referencing the convenience store that is also rarely closed.
LPT: Always take pictures before you disassemble something you’re inexperienced in, or have never worked on I don’t want to get into too many details, but I took something apart that I was very inexperienced in, and was fucking sweating bullets on how fucked I was about to be if I didn’t get it back together. Thankfully, my dumbass did something smart for a change and took some pictures at various angles of the piece of equipment prior to taking it ap…
LPT: If you have a dog, always keep some canned (low sodium) chicken and plain white rice in your pantry. When your dog has tummy troubles, it’s recommended to feed them a bland diet — usually plain chicken and rice. It can be a pain in the neck to cook chicken on a moment’s notice to feed your dog, especially if you don’t have any on hand and would need to make a grocery run. Canned chicken gets the job done – just be sure to get a low sodium vari…
LPT: If you see someone’s lost wallet/keys and you’re an honest person, always pick them up and return them, because the first dishonest person will take them, making their return unlikely. If you’re a good person and see lost valuables, you should always pick them up (even if you can’t give them back/bring them to lost&found immediately) instead of leaving them and hoping that someone else will return them. Because the first dishonest person will definitely take them. If most honest people just leave this to someone else, the chan…
How are upgraded seats on flights always filled? I have been flying a lot recently and I’ve noticed that the upgraded seats are always filled, despite being vacant on the seat map just days before. For example I’ve been flying with United a lot and will be in a couple of weeks. I have a standard economy fare. Right now the first class seats are about 50% empty. The economy plus and preferred e…
If you find yourself in the position to tell someone “why does it always have to be about you?” ask yourself if anything has ever been about them beforehand. When somene always brings up problems, seeks attention etc… sometimes (not often) chances are they have neveractually been addressed by others spontaneously (there could be various reasons for this). So before beinging that up it would be wise to understand why the situation is and if there aren’t other overarching issues. submitted by …
