Is there such a thing as a flat fee (or hourly) financial advisor that’s also a CPA?

Is there such a thing as a flat fee (or hourly) financial advisor that’s also a CPA? Is that just a unicorn that doesn’t exist? Feels like such an obvious combination since so much of alpha a good advisor can provide is tax alpha. I’d gladly pay an appropriately high fee for a high end version of such a service. just as I would be willing to pay a lot for highly specialized legal advice. submitted by /u/baltik

Help please!! Is my financial advisor pushing a bad fund on me? I just invested $9k into a managed account. Our financial advisor already takes a 1% fee – they have suggested a fund with the below info to invest the entire $9k: Management Fee 0.95% Gross Expense Ratio 3.54% Net Expense Ratio 3.29% My gut is that is crazy and they are pushing this on me since it is a fund affiliated with their firm (fund has …

I am 45 years old and think I should fire my financial advisor. Opinions and or advice needed. I currently have $570K in a variety of Ira and other retirement accounts. That’s total of all combined. Plus I have $110K in a non retirement account. Just a general trading account. I own some real estate too and I do consider that part of my retirement. Not messing with the real estate, if anything would like to add to it. The $110k is in stoc…

LPT: If you well enough off to have a financial advisor, don’t have them manage all of your wealth

LPT: If you well enough off to have a financial advisor, don’t have them manage all of your wealth Let them manage maybe 1/4 to 1/3rd. Why? they are probably using computer algorithms to manage your money. And taking a percentage to manage your money. Keep 2/3 – 3/4 as self managed, emulate their algorithms and avoid the management fees. Note: Your mileage may vary. submitted by /u/Catspaw129

How to tell my friend to stop using a financial advisor?

How to tell my friend to stop using a financial advisor? A close friend of mine (24 y/o) has around $50k being managed by a financial advisor that was set up for him by his grandparents when he was younger. The advisor charges 2.25% AUM which I think is insane. He doesn’t have any complex financial situation and makes around $40k/year. He has little to no education regarding personal finance and is un…

Financial/wealth advisor thoughts I had a financial advisor reach out to me on linked in. We had some mutual acquaintances and he is local to where I live, so I figured I would give him the opportunity to pitch me. What has me curious of his motives is the strong push to try to get me into indexed universal life. The pitch being if I contribute 7500 a year for 15 years, I can t…

Is working with a financial advisor worth it?

Is working with a financial advisor worth it? Hi everyone, 35M here. I’m considering working with a financial advisor but I’m on the fence about whether it’s worth the cost. I’d love to hear from those of you who’ve worked with one: • Did you find it helpful? • How exactly did they help you (e.g., investments, retirement planning, budgeting, tax strategies, etc.)? • Were there any downsides…

Financial Advisor Made a Mistake That Cost Me Thousands

Financial Advisor Made a Mistake That Cost Me Thousands I’m not a sophisticated investor nor do I have a large investment account. I have an independent financial advisor who uses a well-known brokerage (think something like Fidelity, Charles Schwab). I asked him to sell $4000 worth of stock and he instead sold 4-5x that worth of stock. When I pointed out the error a few hours later and asked if he c…

Can you remove advisor on a 529 plan?

Can you remove advisor on a 529 plan? I have a 529 plan for my child. It was set up as a NY Advisor Guided plan by a financial planner a few years ago. For various reasons I no longer work with that person. I’ve opted to self manage my other investments, so I don’t have an advisor/planner at this time and don’t plan to get one in the near term. My plan is still set up with that advi…

Should I fire my financial advisor? I feel he isn’t managing funds properly. My advisor that charges me 1% of AUM. He has some higher expense ratio funds I don’t really like but, anyways, I’m wondering if I should separate from him. 72yr old mother got scammed by a shady advisor and another who is barred HELP PLEASE I haven’t uncovered everything yet, but as I dig it gets worse and worse. I’ve already contacted a lawyer on that part, but just uncovered that she has bee…
