LPT: if you’re an uninsured American and you find yourself in the Emergency Room or admitted overnight – tell them you can’t afford the bill and ask to speak to the hospital social worker about applying for Medicare/medicaid I’ve left the emergency room with a new insurance card printed out for me before. The hospital wants their money, it is in their best interest that you are insured. They seem to be able to push an application thru a lot faster than applying online or in a welfare office and waiting for an interview. I’ve not been asked to prove my finances any o…
