Pete Muller’s ‘cinematic’ tonality. How is it achieved?

Pete Muller’s ‘cinematic’ tonality. How is it achieved? (c) Pete Muller – petemullerphotography.com AnthropogeneticWheel made a fascinating post about Pete Muller’s work a couple of days ago. Most of the discussion centred around choice of lens and aperture. I am really curious how Pete would go about creating his tonality, and what I mean specifically is a ‘cinematic’ look, most evident with skin to…

How is this style of lighting achieved?

How is this style of lighting achieved? What I mean specifically is a obvious lack (or minimal presence) of shadows. These images look as if the models were superimposed onto a plain colour block. I understand that there is a element of volume lighting trying to create light box around the model but I’d like to understand the specifics? :)) submitted by /u/cheesecake-queen

What is this colour style and how is it achieved?

What is this colour style and how is it achieved? As a hobbyist photographer, I severely lack the vocabulary to describe to other people my favourite colour “style”, like the one in these photos. For me it looks very vivid, but how is it described in technical terms and how is it achieved? submitted by /u/Fickle-Vanilla-7565

How is this particular style achieved? And does it have a name?

How is this particular style achieved? And does it have a name? I’m not even sure how I would describe it so I hope the photos help illustrate my point. This kind of soft low-contrast look I guess. Is it mostly in post or how the lighting is set up? Some are digital some are film, I’ll be using film if that matters. submitted by /u/BenAndBoujee

How is this colour achieved?

How is this colour achieved? I’m somewhat experienced with photography however I’m starting to try and push my work and develop my own style. Ive been looking at what references I frequently turn to as a way on understanding what I like in an image. One common thread I found was the type of rich colour seen in the images shown (work of Krzysztof Jan and Rafael Pavoratti) bu…

How was this light flare effect achieved?

How was this light flare effect achieved? https://www.instagram.com/p/C5vpjrSLiX5/ There is clearly significant photoshop work in the image, but I am wondering if there a way to achieve that neat cross-hatch type of flaring on the stadium lights using a lens or filter or something? Or was that effect just added in photoshop/post? And if so, how? submitted by /u/RealNotFake
