Why is the 24-70mm lens considered so useful for candid photography?

Why is the 24-70mm lens considered so useful for candid photography? I am new to photography and I want to primarily photograph people – especially candid/documentary style. I’ve read that the 24-70mm is a go-to of many for this style. Can someone explain why that is? I want to understand the reasons behind a recommendation before I buy. I am also open to your suggestions regarding other great lenses for people …

70mm prime for no people photography?

70mm prime for no people photography? Seen a bargain f1.4 7artisans lens, it’s 35mm but on micro 4/3 it’ll be 70mm. Struggling to say no at £40 but also wondering what it’s focal length could be useful for. As I rarely photograph people, I’m trying to think of good ideas. I generally do architecture, macro but I’m fairly open to trying other stuff, just not really sure where it fits…

Is it just me or did canon just raise the MSRP of the RF24-70mm F2.8 to $2400?

Is it just me or did canon just raise the MSRP of the RF24-70mm F2.8 to $2400? It is $2100 everywhere still which was the old msrp. It used to be $1900~ish new at most retailers. I feel like i missed the window of buying a cheaper lens. I know the refurbs go on sale on black friday but they get bought out quickly by resalers. Does Canon have other sales? submitted by /u/ajtyeh

Good Travel Lens to Add to Sigma 24-70mm Art? I have been trying to figure out how to replace my old Canon 350D, and I just bought a Sony A7IV and a Sigma 24070mm lens, which is somewhat like the 17-70mm I’m used to. I’m going to use the camera largely for trips with my wife, but I also expect to take family photos and do some macro shots. I don’t see myself doing any kind of real telephoto…

Is 24-70mm really that crucial?

Is 24-70mm really that crucial? Genuine question. I have few primes and 70-200mm. Whole internet is praising that this is the most crucial lens for ff. I find that I either need low light or light setup and primes do that for me. To me on paper the range of 2.5 primes at 900g is not very practical. Why 24-70mm is so much recommended? Is it because it’s a little bit wide and a …

28-70mm vs single focal length lenses. Why buy anything but the 28-70? Hi guys, I’ve been doing a ton of research on the a7iii and a7riii for street photography specifically and just have a question in regards to picking the correct lens. There is a 28-70mm lens that, from my understanding, has the capability to have a focal length of 28 to 70. Then there are other lenses that just have a single focal length such …
