Note: I use it with Canon M50 with an adapter submit…

Should I buy the 50mm f/1.8 stm lens? Photographers of reddit!! I need your help. I have a canon rebel T7 with kit lens and 75-300mm lens. Im debating on whether I should buy the 50mm f/1.8 STM lens. I’ve heard good things about it, it’s affordable, good in low light due to its aperture and good for portraits and other things as well. However I’ve seen that because the canon rebel t…

Why my 17-50mm Zoom Lense so Much longer than 50mm Prime?

Why my 17-50mm Zoom Lense so Much longer than 50mm Prime? Hi I just got my first real camera an old Nikon DSLR. It came with a fungus’ed zoom lense (Tamaron 17-50mm). It is 82mm long at 17mm focal-length, and 110mm long at 50mm focal-length. I ordered a prime lense from Nikon (AF 50mm F1.8D). According to spec, it is only 39mm long. I don’t understand why a Zoom lense is so much longer than prime at sa…

Can anyone help me understand the colour/number correlation on my lens (Nikkor 50mm 1.2)?

Can anyone help me understand the colour/number correlation on my lens (Nikkor 50mm 1.2)? Hello, I have a Nikon FE2 35mm camera and a Nikkor 50mm 1.4 lens. My question is specifically about the correlation (if any) between the colours of the aperture numbers and lines on my lens. I have a basic understanding of aperture and depth of field, and was watching a video to learn more about focus zones when I noticed the colours of my aper…

Have you ever used the TTartisan 50mm F0.95 ? What do you think of it ?

Have you ever used the TTartisan 50mm F0.95 ? What do you think of it ? I’m planning of buying it as a 2nd lens. I have the Sigma 24-70 mm F2.8 DG DN Art and a S5iiX as camera. It’s giving me a solid diversity in angles and focal lengthes but I often have a lack of luminosity. So I’m thinking why not going all in and buying a F0.95 instead of a F1.8 or F1.2 to never be in lack of light again. And here I found the TT…

Which lens to choose for my first studio project? 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8, or 70-200 f4? I’m doing a studio photography project tomorrow, first time in a proper professional studio, that I’m renting for a few hours. I’ll be doing mainly portraits, full body and closer images such as headshots. However I’m conflicted as what lens to use. These are some of the lenses I have that I’m considering: Canon 50mm f.14 Canon 85mm f1.8 Canon…

50mm 1.8 or 24mm 2.8

50mm 1.8 or 24mm 2.8 As the title suggests im tossing up between these 2 canon lenses. I like the fact that 24mm is wider than the 50mm however the 50mm will be alot better for low light. Mainly looking at using it for car photography. Any suggestions would be great. Currently only using a kit lens 18/55 without IS. TIA submitted by /u/kp6273

Do I need a 50mm if I am willing to use crop mode on a 35mm?

Do I need a 50mm if I am willing to use crop mode on a 35mm? I am about to get the Sony 35mm F1.4 GM, a prime lens. I was thinking of also getting the Sony 50mm F2.5 G, which is a really tiny prime. These lenses will be paired with the Sony A7RV, a 61mp sensor. I realised that I do not need the 50mm F2.5 if I am willing to use APS-C / crop mode. I was reading up on equivalence, and the 35mm F1.4 transla…

Nikon 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor-S Auto looking for spare internal lens part I’m looking to purchase an internal lens piece (seen in attached photo) for a Nikon 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor-S Auto, as that piece has fungus that’s irremovable after attempts at cleaning for probably the first time since it was purchased in the 1970’s. Is it worth getting a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lense for a Canon T5?

Is it worth getting a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lense for a Canon T5? I am mostly doing portraits of the family, dog pics, just life pics mostly. I think I read somewhere that this won’t be a 50mm on a T5 but an 80mm? And that it might not work well then for close quarters. Not even sure if that’s true or not. Very amateur here. submitted by /u/grilledbeers
