Am I the only person who has a hard time truly being PRESENT during travel? I focus so much on the anticipation before and memories when it’s over? Curious to know if anyone else struggles with this? I have spent time in Greece, Spain, and Italy and I absolutely LOVE the experiences of the Mediterranean – the beautiful weather, the ocean, etc. I anticipate travel so much, but when it’s over I miss it terribly and romanticize it to the point that it makes me depressed. I almost wish I really…
Don’t push yourself too hard I’m 21 and relatively new to travelling (I’ve only been to about 5 countries total, and only for a few days each and typically I have always been with someone). My upbringing meant that travel was not possible and so in recent years since becoming an adult and working, I decided I really want to explore places as it excited me and was never an o…
Morocco and Egypt have serious problems Let’s face it. We’ve read dozens of personal accounts of horrible trips to these countries. I have travelled around the world and I have to say that the constant uneasiness that one feels because your gender or sexuality or colour of skin makes you a target for incessant badgering is the worst type of feeling. These countries can be beautiful, c…
USA Work Destination My work team of 20 people had a contest and the winner could pick any place in America that the whole team would travel to for a week for meetings. I have won the option to pick where we choose, but cannot decide. Does anyone had any good suggestions? Money is not really an issue here It could be an awesome hotel and not necessarily a city. …
Book ANA via United vs book directly? Since I asked re the other segment we are booking ANA one way SGN to IAH. Can book via ANA directly or via United, price basically same. I’m actually tempted to book via United as I know how to reach them (Twitter, BBB complaint) if things go awry, whereas I assume ANA will require calling 800 number and can’t file any sort of BBB complaint if n…
3 Days Palawan and 6 Days South Korea OR 4 Days Palawan and 5 Days South Korea? Hi guys, I’m planning our itinerary for a trip in December and would like you guy’s advice on how many days to spend in Palawan vs Korea. We’re going to South Korea (Seoul) and Philippines (Manila) but would also like to spend a few days in Philippines (Palawan). Being that we’re not really beach people, does it make sense to shorten the am…
Where is a good place to travel in the US in December? (Before the holidays) I am also from Southern California so understand that i may have to endure some cold but this will be the only time I may get to travel and want to make the best of my break 🙂 I am 27 y/o and love both the outdoors and urban exploring. submitted by /u/Apprehensive-Cheek59
Do Not Travel to Egypt! We got back a few days ago from a trip to Egypt (American couple, mid-30’s + another couple), and it was the worst trip we have ever taken in our life. We are very experienced travelers and have been all over the world including some pretty rough places (Europe, SE & NE Asia, Middle East, South America, Africa, and several of the post-soviet Eur…
Mexico City or Buenos Aires? Looking to travel for around a week or so. Budget is not a big factor. I enjoy art, culture, architecture and anything with historical significance. Not a huge night life kind of person. Which of these 2 cities do you personally prefer? So far I’ve travelled to mostly European countries, USA, Canada and Japan/Korea (CDMX is slightly ahead due t…
Diving in the Philippines (around 1-1.5 week) I’m planning a trip for about 7-10 days in the Philippines in September to just dive and relax. This is what I have in mind so far. Fly directly to Cebu-Mactan airport, then head to Moalboal first for 3-4 days and do some diving there (Probably go with the 10 boat dive package with Savedra Dibe Center)? Then head over to Balicasag Island, Bohol …
Say hello to my little friend Taken on a hike in New Hampshire this past July. I didn’t know the beauty that is the North East of the US. submitted by /u/treblig111
Husband not getting TSA pre with his global entry We both have global entry. We took a Delta flight this week and my TSApre was on my tickets but my husband’s was not?! We can’t figure out why. All the information is in his Delta profile. Any ideas? submitted by /u/Womansplaining-Yo
Most magical Christmas town in the United States? I’m getting married next December, and my partner and I are both very sappy romantics and want to spend our honeymoon in a magical Christmas town anywhere in the mainland United States. Anywhere we could spend a week over the holidays basking in kitchy magical Christmas joy. Budget is pretty much irrelevant. submitted by /u/Heyoman2234 …
How do you decide whether you actually love a city or just love the holiday experience? I’m considering moving to a city I was recently holidaying in because I’m fortunate enough to be a dual citizen with that country and have some family there – however upon more sober reflection (figuratively speaking) I’m beginning to wonder if I really did love the place or was just intoxicated by the fact that I was on holiday with no work or …
Is Frankfurt airport really that bad? (And what about Condor?) Looking to book a flight, my options are layover in Barcelona or Frankfurt. Barcelona is quite a bit more expensive but i prefer the date and I read here that the Frankfurt airport sucks. Does it suck so much as to pay a substantial amount to avoid it? Also, has anyone flown Condor? I flew through there a LONG time ago and don’t really remember…
I wish there’s a threshold for body stench to remove passengers. Posting this while on the tarmac – this guy sitting in front of me has the overhead fan blasting towards him and directing the smell of his body odor towards the back. I and the woman next me are communicating with our eyes. The guy in front seems to have a cold as he sneezes a lot, more likely a reason not to take a shower. But omg! I don’t hav…
Suggestions for next US National Park I live on the east coast. I like lakes and prefer some elevation when hiking. I have already done White Sands and near ones, Shenandoah, Glacier, Teton, Yellowstone, some smaller ones, and will complete the Utah 5 before the end of the year. submitted by /u/TheTravelAccount2
What is the most underrated place you have traveled to? What’s a lesser-known city or place you have been to that isn’t on the radar of most travelers? For me, it’s Hatcher Pass in Alaska for the pureness of the nature, combined with being easily accessible. A runner up is Oman. submitted by /u/parakeetpoop
