Malaysia for people that don’t like cities

Malaysia for people that don’t like cities I’ve booked flights to Malaysia (three weeks in March). We’re pretty well travelled (Colombia, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Ecuador, Croatia,…) and love small towns, day hikes, and nature. We usually skip the big cities (e.g. Bogotá, Colombo, etc.). I think we wouldn’t want to spend time in KL or Ipoh. I’m not sure about Melaka? Places that did make th…

10 Days in Italy

10 Days in Italy Hi!! My fiancé and I are looking at spending 10 full days in Italy. As of right now we have Rome (4 days), Florence (4 days), and Venice (2 days) on the list. Is this enough time in each city or should we split up the days a little bit more so we have 3 days in Venice? Are there any other spots you would recommend adding in? We were originally t…

I somehow skipped immigration when landing in Europe?

I somehow skipped immigration when landing in Europe? I was going from Canada to Croatia, with a layover in Paris. I would have expected to go through customs and immigration in Paris, since France-Crotia is within the Schengen area. Now when I landed in Paris, we were tight on time and an employee made us take a quicker queue to go straight to our next flight. We did not see an officer or anything…

Do Not Patronize Sonder

Do Not Patronize Sonder For context, I have stayed at four different Sonders (NOLA, DC, Savannah, Austin) and have had issues with all. With each experience the following elements have been consistent: Units that “look” modern and clean but at closer inspection are older facilities that are cheaply revamped. Customer service that doesn’t serve anyone. They are useles…

Let’s do this! Rank the cheapest country/region you’ve ever been to from 1-10.

Let’s do this! Rank the cheapest country/region you’ve ever been to from 1-10. I’ll go first. Only been to 7 countries. India. Enough said. Laos. Dirt cheap food and accomodations. True bang for your buck. Vietnam. Second only to Laos in terms of cheap food and really great accomodations. Indonesia. Once you leave touristy Bali, Indonesia is super cheap and such a hidden gem. Thailand. Fairly pricey for SEA standards b…

Girlfriend wants to visit Jerusalem while on a trip to Tel Aviv My girlfriend’s friend is getting married to an Israeli man next month in Tel Aviv so we and a bunch of friends are heading over to visit. She spoke to the bride-to-be and told my girlfriend that her soon-to-be husband is organising a 2-day trip to Jerusalem with an English and Portuguese speaking tour guide (my partner and her friends are nati…

Having to turn off all devices during take off and landing

Having to turn off all devices during take off and landing I flew from Jakarta to Singapore a few days ago and they asked everyone to turn off all electronic devices, even going as far as asking passengers to remove their Airpods. I think I haven’t actually experienced this in at least ten years. I just flew within Indonesia a few weeks ago and we were only told to set all devices on Airplane mode. Same…

What is your go-to travel insurance. I once used Safetywing on my trip to south america. Subsequently i lost a luggage enroute to colombia. After several attempts to claim with them, i have yet to receive a dollar as compenstaion for my lost luggage. Mind the airline that has lost my luggage has already compensated me and that recognition by the airline that they indeed lost the luggage should be enough for Safetywing to follow suit. submitted by /u/luckyjuniboy

Hijab in passport but won’t be wearing it. Will it be a problem?

Hijab in passport but won’t be wearing it. Will it be a problem? I’m going on a trip soon and I don’t want to have to wear a hijab since I left my religion a while ago. Since my passport is old I am still wearing my hijab in it. Will this be a problem at airport security? Mostly I’m nervous of being judged or treated poorly because of it. Also! I’m Canadian so do I have to complete ARRIVECAN when arriving bac…

United hasn’t refunded us after 1.5 months

United hasn’t refunded us after 1.5 months We travelled to the US mid July to August, and our connecting flight while flying to the US got cancelled due to problems with the aircraft. As a result, we also asked them to cancel our return flight tickets (a total of 3 flights, 1 originally cancelled one and 2 return) because we wanted to book a different airline company, perhaps a better on…

Would it be rude to wear my hoodie blanket on a flight?

Would it be rude to wear my hoodie blanket on a flight? I’m flying to MCO (4 hr flight with SW) next week and Korea (17hr flight with AA) next year and because I’m prone to getting cold easily, a long plane ride with just a regular zip up would not keep me warm. I was gifted The Comfy this past christmas and I would love to wear it on my flight. When wearing it, I basically look like a Boobah lol. Ho…

16 year-old’s passport expiring, can’t buy ticket in advance? We are planning to take a trip for Christmas out of the US. I go to buy tickets only to realize that my 16 year-old son’s US passport will expire when he is out of the country, did not realize his was only good for 5 years(!). So, the booking site will not accept his info as a passenger because of this. So, I have to go and get him a renewal (pr…
