Planned my first trip to NYC on 9/14. Would you still go? Or reschedule due to the hurricane?
Planned my first trip to NYC on 9/14. Would you still go? Or reschedule due to the hurricane? I bought tickets, hotels, and a Broadway show. I am excited to go. However, there’s a damn hurricane that might blow into New York early on the 16th, then my flight is early on the 17th. Will this end up being a nightmare? Cancelled flights, inability to go anywhere, flooding, ruined vacay? What would you do? What would you look for in order to …
What are some items you DIDN’T pack, that you wish you did?
What are some items you DIDN’T pack, that you wish you did? This post is inspired by the earlier post “What items do you wish you didn’t pack?” I feel like people often have regrets about things they bring that they don’t use, but what about the reverse? What items did you not pack that once you were at the new location you wish you had brought? I’m guessing these might be on some people’s lists: Immodi…
Where to go in Vietnam?
Where to go in Vietnam? Next spring me and my family are going to Cambodia and Vietnam. We are deciding between Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi. What would you recommend? We don’t have time to do both this trip but we can always come so let me know if it’s worth it to come back to make sure we visit both cities. Thank you! submitted by /u/NoSpecialist7996
How do you find good places to eat when travelling?
How do you find good places to eat when travelling? Hello everyone! I’ve been putting a lot of thought into methodologies around identifying good restaurants/places to eat on my travels, especially in locations where I don’t know any locals. While research generally pays off you still cannot help but end up disappointed from time to time. How do you usually go about this? Having a look at locali…

Did I get scammed?
Did I get scammed? So last night I got a message from my hotel through the bookimg.com website that I need to verify my credit card so they can confirm my reservation. If I don’t they’ll cancel my reservation. However I had already paid for it months ago. With mails from booking etc just the usual confirmation stuff. In any case it seemed legit(link was booking.st…
If you have the chance to do Pompei, don’t just do one day
If you have the chance to do Pompei, don’t just do one day Seriously that place is a 2 days or more location. I know people who have done the 2 hr trip from Rome to Pompei and then 2 hrs back and every single one of them said they wish they had done more days cause they had barely any time to explore. It literally is a city: it’s a big place. I stayed 4 days in Pompei, 1 to settle in, 2 to explore Pompe…

Can my brother finance my stay?
Can my brother finance my stay? Hello everyone, This post is a combination of a vent and a question at the same time. This really causes me some anxiety because I was dreaming of this study program in particular and about Slovenia in general. I got enrolled in a master’s program in Slovenia. I have a question regarding the proof of sufficient funds. I am a bit suspicious about…
Is Havana (Cuba) worth it?
Is Havana (Cuba) worth it? I heard mixed opinions about Havana. Since I’m very interested about the culture and the history of this place I would love to visit it. I’m from Europe so it’s quite far away for me. I would also be a solo female traveler. I would love to hear your opinions on this. Sorry if my english is bad it’s not my native language. submitted by /u/…

PSA: in international travel, “customs” is where they check your bags; passport control is called “passport control”
PSA: in international travel, “customs” is where they check your bags; passport control is called “passport control” …or “border control”. For some reason many people from North America call the place where they check your passport “customs”. This isn’t the case. Here’s the actual definition: The significant arrival events in most countrys’ airports usually are as follows: Arrive at gate > Passport control > Baggage retrieval > Customs > Onward transport Cus…

I’ve booked a flight to Marrakech and am concerned about the earthquake. What should I do?
I’ve booked a flight to Marrakech and am concerned about the earthquake. What should I do? I also feel that it’s pretty damn rich of me to go over there for Christmas whilst there’s lots of people without homes now. The flight didn’t cost me too much either so it wouldn’t be a huge loss. I also wonder if the flight will even be possible now if the airport has been damaged. submitted by /u/Kaizerdave
Did you find something that your own country is doing wrong, while travelling ?
Did you find something that your own country is doing wrong, while travelling ? my examples (France) : Traffic lights with countdown timers. I discovered it’s a common thing while travelling in the US. I don’t get why France is not using such lights, as they are so practical. Street food (warning : unpopular opinion). I think France’s street food is not very diverse. Most boulangeries have the same options (it may be getti…
