Crowding the gate when boarding a flight

Crowding the gate when boarding a flight Why do people do this? Especially if you’re still a couple groups away from being called. I fly economy all the time and just sit and wait until it’s my turn to board. It’s also annoying having to squeeze through people when it’s your turn to board. It just doesn’t make sense to me. submitted by /u/Agreeable_Peak_7851

France in January – what town to spend 3 days in?

France in January – what town to spend 3 days in? I’m trying to take advantage of a few extra days after a work trip to Paris that ends on January 1. I had my heart set on going north and staying in Bayeux to visit Juno Beach and the Bayeux tapestry, but lo and behold it turns out both museums close for the month of January. I mean I can’t blame them, I guess! Most of the travel blogs I read a…

Is it bad to stay in the hotel for a day after days of doing stuff?

Is it bad to stay in the hotel for a day after days of doing stuff? I’m asking basically if it’s a bad thing to stay inside for a day to decompress after multiple days (in my case over a week) of going out and doing stuff. Part of me feels bad if I do that because I feel like I’m missing out and like, why did I even travel if I’m just going to stay in, you know? But another part of me feels like I need to stay i…

Christmas Day in Atlanta – hotel recommendations?

Christmas Day in Atlanta – hotel recommendations? I have an overnight layover in Atlanta from Dec 25-26, and I’m looking for a hotel that will still make us feel like we’re celebrating Christmas – a drinks/dinner menu or event, nice decorations, big tree in the lobby, etc. My partner and I are in our late 30’s and we’re not party types – we’d rather enjoy a good dinner and a few cocktails. Bud…

Have you ever experienced people wanting you to be more hyperaware of racism when travelling than you actually are?

Have you ever experienced people wanting you to be more hyperaware of racism when travelling than you actually are? I wasn’t sure how to word the title, but basically I am talking about people trying to make you fear racism in countries you’re travelling to, more than you naturally would be. I’m a black woman currently studying abroad in Vienna, Austria and I absolutely love it here. I find the place so beautiful, the people so friendly and due to some person…

Flying US to Berlin via London and wondering about checking a bag

Flying US to Berlin via London and wondering about checking a bag I’m flying on British Airways from NYC to Berlin, connecting at Heathrow. Is it possible to change the passenger’s age?

Is it possible to change the passenger’s age? We bought three tickets directly through the Ryanair website – two adult tickets and one teenager. The “Travel companions” section says that our teenager is a teenager, but once we try to register all passengers in check-in, it says that our teenager is an adult and it doesn’t let to add any needed information. We tried to contact Ryanair via e-…

Should I just give up and cancel?

Should I just give up and cancel? A friend raised the idea of going abroad as a group for a few days and at the time I was interested. However I’ve more or less been left in charge of organising the whole thing. Despite agreeing to come on the trip, only a select few have actually bothered to give me any responses regarding it and I just feel as if I’m talking to a brick wall. I…

I have a ~11-hour flight, but the flight doesn’t provide any meals…. What can I do besides buy food at the airport? It’s an overnight flight (9PM GMT-5 – 2PM GMT+2) with a 1.5 hour stopover at Lisbon, so maybe that’s why there are no meals provided. TSA says solid food items can be transported, so can I bring a homemade sandwich to eat at the airport before boarding my plane? I’ll also bring my reusable water bottle (empty). It’s my first time flying solo, le…
