VFS is one of the worst monopoly I am really sick of VFS charging people exorbitant amount of money for just about everything. This monopoly has gone too wild. My wife will get her Canadian citizenship next year so most likely we won’t have to deal with them anymore. But still I want to file formal complaints against the company with the different Embassies so that they are eit…
From Addiction, To Travel My wife and I are leaving our lives in Canada for a six month trip through Asia tomorrow. Although we have been planning for a while, it hasn’t felt quite as real as it does today. I grew up in a cult. I struggled with mental health and addiction issues, never thought I would live past 20, and didn’t want to. After years of rebuilding my life I…
Visiting Madrid in a week, worried my itinerary is either too overwhelming or underwhelming Hi guys, I’m an Aussie solo travelling for the first time in Madrid next week. Will be arriving in the afternoon of the 28th of November and leaving early morning on the 3rd of December. I’m super nervous, mostly about my itinerary and am worried that I’m not making the most out of my visit. I’ll be staying in Sol, and my itinerary looks somethi…
San Andrés and providencia, worth it? I’m heading to colombia in February. Currently our itinerary is Bogota (1 night, travel hub city) > barranquilla (2 nights – end of carnival) > medellin (4 nights) > cartagena (5 nights) > Bogota (3 nights) > home We originally had planned to spend less time in cartagena and Bogota on the return (3 nights/1 night). We had a three day trip to San…
Guided tours vs. independent vacations My family tries to travel to Europe every year (me, husband, teenage daughter). We typically book everything ourselves. We book the flight directly with the airline, book the hotels direct, then plan an itinerary in the city we visit, explore on our own and also plan a few activities, such as cooking classes or day trips (through sites like Viat…
Train budapest to Vienna and changing departure station So I booked train tickets (OBB EC) from Budapest to Innsbruck via Vienna, non-refundable, upgraded to assigned seats. We will be on a river cruise that ends in Budapest, but now it looks like the boat may dock in Komarom since there is a lot of rain and the water levels are high. Does anyone know if we can just skip some legs and just get on the…
Which dates are better for an Italy/Greece trip. We are looking at going to Italy/Greece in 2024. The two times we have available are April 13 – May 4 and June 15 – July 6. We like hot weather and would like to do some scuba diving while we are there. I understand that high season is very busy and wonder if the June – July dates will be much busier than Arpil-May. We are still planning our to …
SE Asia trip advice for anxious 1st time solo traveler Hello everyone, my name is Andy. Could you please give me some advice on my upcoming solo trip to SE Asia? I was supposed to go with a friend who spent a lot of time in these places and this is my first time traveling in general, but he decided last minute that he wants to spend the whole time on his own and now I have a 2 months trip to do all …
Which places are the best in USA if I like nature, wildlife and beautiful landscapes? I am planning to go to to USA for the first time early 2024. The country is huge, and almost every state and city has a lot of beautiful sightings and activity. But I am particularly looking for national parks where I can see wildlife, landscape, doing camping, fishing… What places do you recommend? Edit: I will stay for 3 weeks. It is possibl…
Embracing the “Pre-Trip Anxiety” I was really inspired by this post and wanted to offer a little comfort for those facing Pre-Trip Anxiety. I’ve been traveling for 30+ years (often solo) and I have no signs of depression or mental health issues in my adult life. But in the weeks leading up to a big trip, I always feel a deep sense of doom and super-charged anxiety. I often c…

Turkish Airlines extra Baggage cost for codeshare flights? Hello everyone! I’m flying to India next week my flight is from SFO – Delhi. I booked my tickets via Indigo. However, the first leg of journey SFO – IST is operated by Turkish Airlines. I want to carry an additional bag (23kgs) but I am not able to find how much it would cost. I reached out to both the airlines but they told to check at the coun…
Europe 2024 Itinerary – Amsterdam to Lisbon In 2024, I’m taking my second Europe trip and am currently (mostly) done finalizing my itinerary of two weeks (late May-mid June). Here is what it’s looking like: Amsterdam (4 full days) “Main” attractions consist of Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum, and Rijksmuseum, all of which have their own “dedicated” day. I also have a bunch of other stu…
Anybody fly Myanmar Airways International? I’m wondering how hardcore they are on their carryon restrictions it says one bag and a personal item like a jacket. I’m trying to figure out if I can get away with a carryon and a briefcase. I’ve seen similar restrictions on other smaller local carriers and then once I get to the gate folks are loaded up with no problems other times not so much…
How much to tip in Egypt? Especially a cruise. We’re on a cruise over the Nile right now. It’s a 4 night cruise on a small sailboat. Only holds 10 guests maximum but we’re here with a total of 6 guests including us. We were told beforehand that at the end of the cruise we should tip, which is fine. We were never told how much but one of the other guests was told (by the cruise company) to t…
Ethiopian Airlines crooked policy So I was at Cotonou, Benin airport, flying to Adis Ababa then to Kigali, Rwanda, with Ethiopian Airlines. At the registration counter, they tell us that they cannot let us in as our flight out of Kigali is not booked with Ethiopian Airlines (Although I can show a reservation with Egypt Air out of Kigali). They refer us to the local airport Ethio…

If you miss a connecting flight, do you only get re-booked with the same airline, or is it the next flight from any airline? I tried Googling this but was having a harder time than I expected finding the answer. If I have a 1 hour layover, but my first flight gets delayed, causing me to miss the second flight, I understand that the airline will re-book me. But will they only put me on one of their own flights, or would they book me with another airline if they have an…
Best time to travel SE Asia? Thinking of travelling SE Asia with my partner. Because of my job (teacher) the summer months, i.e. June-August would suit best. Has anyone travelled over there during these months? If so, would you recommend? Thanks. submitted by /u/Ill_Independence_661
