Please help me decide Planning to redo my TV area. I’m thinking some art on the empty section on the left of the wood panelling to balance it out. Issue is I can’t center the setup to the TV wall as the opposing wall has a load-bearing section creating a small indent for the sofa (235cm length), which is smaller than the TV wall (~310cm). What would you put there in…
Curtain placement for a high ceiling????? Hi all, We have this section of our living room that has 10 foot ceilings. I’ve installed this curtain rod, and it just looks weird to me. I know the general rule is to keep rods closer to the ceiling, however the large gap between the ceiling and window looks odd to me. Also, I was thinking the curtains I got would be a bit longer… they’re abou…
How to make paint look less ugly? I am living in a room that is very good in terms of price and location. However, the paint makes the room look dingy and dull. It’s like a dull beige. And, there isn’t much lighting on top. Just a very small lamp on the top. I got some lamps but it doesn’t feel like enough lighting. Any advice to make the room appear brighter despite the paint …

Does the cool wood undertone of these chairs work with my warm tone walnut furniture? I bought these two chairs initially thinking they wood have a warmer wood undertone, but they lean towards a more neutral/cool undertone. I’ve included photos of my other furniture pieces that are a warmer walnut color. Furniture won’t go directly next to eachother but I arranged so in photos for easier comparison. Any opinions on if this could …
What to do with this bathroom alcove? I am renovating my bathroom and have this deep narrow alcove beside the shower. I want to do something here that will provide a decent bit of storage but I don’t want to close it off since I want to keep the room appearing open. I was thinking some floating shelves but the depth of the alcove means they would be set really far back or be weirdly…
Green walls or white/beige? Just moving in. This basement space will be a home office and family room (couch/chair/tv/etc). Furniture will be brown or earth tones. Window is East facing but doesn’t get direct sunlight. Do I keep the green color or paint it white/beige to lighten the room? Do I keep the wainscoting? Thanks for your input! submitted by /u/HunkyUnkie …
What Module to Choose in University Hi everyone. I am interested in doing a master degree with focus on interior design. I have looked at a few top universities in the UK, Australia, and a few European countries for onsite full time modules. But it seems I hardly came across the phrase “interior design” in their module list. May I ask what can be the other names for such modules? …
Basement TV/projector design help please! Previous owners have this black mounting area for a TV. It’s 124″ w x 56″ h. 2 options we are considering. Install a 75″ tv which (66″ w x 38″h) but that leaves so much empty black space on the sides which might not look great. Any thoughts on how we can fill up the black emptiness on either side of the tv? Option 2 install a projector screen,…
What type of wainscoting would look best in this space? See notes at end of photos+notes on post. I’m trying to keep these renovations as timeless looking as possible. I’m trying to avoid “trendy” and would rather end up with a cozy space that looks great now and will still look great in 10 years. This is the entryway leading into a cozy sitting room. It won’t be used as a living room. No TV, just comfy seating and a small coffee table, hug…
