Where to start and stop tile We are remodeling an Eichler home and doing cork everywhere but the kitchen which has terrazzo tile. I can’t decide what will look better, stopping the tile at the front of the kitchen cabinets or the back. The floors are not the same height so it must be all on or all off the tile. Hopefully these images show the space…the front door is to the …
Feedback on Living Room Layout with Teal Accent Wall Just playing around with my living room setup (pictures attached, one chaise, one normal sofa) and could use some advice. I’m stuck with these app colors but thinking about going with bright different colours against the teal wall. Also, thinking about a floating shelf above the TV (placeholder in the pictures) because that wall feels too bare? …

Why is Interior Design not considered as a STEM Career? I’m genuinely curious why interior design is not considered a STEM? Yes it is mostly art, but it includes Science, Technology, and Mathematics, especially from a professional level. Whenever I ask around why, I get answers like “because everyone can do it”, “it’s just art and aesthetics”. When in reality it’s way more than just arts and aestheti…

Help with gallery wall Taking a shot at putting together a gallery wall. Not sure if I should include the large Jimi Hendrix poster or get rid of it and hang it somewhere else. I have other photos I could print to fill in space. Open to changing the size of any of the photos (they’re all 8×10, 5×7, 4×6). Open to removing pictures – I do have a small 15.25″ wall next t…

Color-Blocking with Green Tile Planning to renovate my bathroom and am lovin’ the look of colorblocking right now! Tiling a full wall is not in the budget, but colorblocking the tiled shower surround is an option. Thoughts? Is this look too trendy? I hate textured wallpaper this is the wallpaper in my bedroom, i really hate it. My parents say it’s not possible to paint directly on the wall (i dont think it would be flat anyway?? idk). Is there any wallpapers or anything that are flat and nontextured? submitted by /u/Jas246810

How to handle the water sprinkler on my cupboard wall There’s only one wall in my master bedroom where a cupboard can be built. We want the wardrobe to be ~8ft with a loft on top. However, unfortunately, at around the 6ft 9 inch point there’s a water sprinkler on the wall. Given the safety concern, ofcourse it can’t be covered. One option is to leave the last loft section completely open and having…

Advice for a long wall in bedroom Hello all, we have just finished a loft conversion and in a phase to try and decorate/make it cosy. I have a long wall which not quite sure what to do with the space between the TV and wall to the right. I was thinking of a floating vanity table like the ones in my images and painting part of the wall the same grey as the feature wall to create…
Does the this floor combo work Sorry for the lack of pictures it’s still all a work in progress. The tile is a slate gray color not 100% sure how of the color of stain but it looks similar to honey oak. The floors will get sanded and refinished but will be the same color. I like the combo personally but my SO needs some more convincing… what do you guys think? Does the contra…
Avoiding making a dungeon out of my no/low natural light combined bedroom/home office Basically trying to not make a completely soul sucking combo office/bedroom, especially with the window (bottom corner) going into the apartment and receiving only bounced natural light from a nearby window. Was experimenting with a room divider and keeping the desk far away from the bed to keep a psychological separation, but I think it might j…

Finally finished furnishing my home Moved in to my home 3 months ago and we finally finished the interior. I was intending to go for a japandi theme because of the cozy minimalist vibe but somehow ended up with a very Mediterranean styled home lol. I’m definitely happy with it overall but wonder if my home lacks the cozy vibe because of all the cool tones submitted by /u/H…
