What color should I paint my low light living room with brick fireplace? I generally really hate beige and grey since we just managed to stop renting, but I need this room not to get too dark too quickly. We have a dark brown leather sofa and medium oak furniture. General style has been Norah ephron 90s romantic comedy. submitted by /u/bishes_ride_at_dawn
Rendering in Procreate I’m in design school and have a project I need to render (I haven’t learned Revit or Sketchup yet, just autoCAD for floor plans/furniture etc.). So I would like to use Procreate to do my “hand” rendering since my marker skills aren’t great. But I’m having a hard time finding a template or anything to make sure that my sketches are at least propo…
Need to replace two bookcases with built ins shelves. What kind of person could I seek out that could design or recommend the design and implementation of this? We have a baby and two bookshelves we’ve brought to our new house. One is pretty nice, the other just a target one. Rather than keep putting in these standalone bookcases I want to just put in built in shelves. But I want slightly more than just mounting flat shelves. I don’t really want to do the job of install and there’s a million different l…
Residential Degree in Vancouver I am currently attending BCIT for the residential interiors diploma. My mom really wants me to get a degree but I cant seem to find any schools that offer a residential degree. I checked VCAD, KPU and Lasalle. Any other options local or within BC/maybe Alberta? I explicitly don’t want to go into commercial. submitted by /u/ttonibell
Help with bright sofa color! I’m indecisive I like bright colors/jewel tones and am picking out a couch this week. I’ve narrowed it down to this style but am so torn on color. I have a seafoam green chair that is also in the livingroom that I don’t want it to clash with OR be too matchy. I also don’t want a 70s themed living room! Here are my contender swatches on the chair. I’m leaning t…
What do you dislike most about SketchUp? I’m an Interior Architecture & Design graduate and curious to know what challenges you most using SketchUp for interior design and what do you wish it could do? submitted by /u/amira_mywave
SOS Do I need to return my couch? Hi! I am trying to figure out the layout of my living room in my new apartment…I bought a 100” wide couch, but I think it’s swallowing my living room. I can return it, but let me know your suggestions on layout and if I can make it work. The window shown only lets in literally like 1% light as it’s in a darker outdoor hallway, so that’s why I wa…
Which layout?? The pictures with the dog is what my layout is now (the chairs near the window will obviously be updated). My question is which layout looks better? A lot of people have said that the one I created with AI looks better, but I am really worried that having the couch facing away from the fireplace will be completely off. Please give me your opini…

Do you think a 14” deep by 30” wide cabinet can support a 6 foot laminate countertop okay? I plan to move it around in basement when I have people over. submitted by /u/Breck15

Best lower kitchen cabinet width Best lower kitchen cabinet width? We are planning to renovate our kitchen soon. What do you think is the best lower kitchen cabinet width? And why is that? Of course there will be some mix sizes around the edges. I am talking about the majority. View Poll submitted by /u/Fluffy_Guarantee_433
What do you all think about my parents’ kitchen renovation? I could really use some outside opinions here. My parents renovated their kitchen (dad made all the choices), and I’m unsure about the results both aesthetically and quality-wise. I’m no expert in kitchen renovations or design, so I’d appreciate any insights. At the end of the day, it’s their kitchen, but I feel bad because my mom had been wanti…
Coffee tables all too low for 3 inch rule? I keep reading that the coffee table should be no more than 3 inches lower than the sofa, but almost all of the coffee tables I’ve seen are 4-5+ inches lower than my couch. Sofa seat is 20.5 inches high, for reference. Seems like a normal height when sitting on it. Anyone else come across this issue? Should I just ignore the 3 inch “rule” and ge…
Kitchen renovation with yellow cabinetry, green tiles and terrazzo breakfast bar benchtop in a Mid-century house, Angaston, Barossa Valley, South Australia. By SpaceCraft Joinery. submitted by /u/ManiaforBeatles
Which rug for dining room? I like the yellow one, but I think it’s too similar to other color schemes in the house. Purple/pink is current favorite, but the orangey red would be a better size for the longer shaped room (handmade rugs). Clover pattern is for window shades. submitted by /u/Whateverwhatevver
Too much negative space around surfboard? We had the surfboard commissioned when we spent a long time in Maui a few years ago. It’s a rad piece! It’s actually steel that’s been circular-sanded and layered with automotive paint. The natural light when opening front door activates “movement” of the waves. I just finished adding the trim to the halfwall feature…which we’re loving. Is it ju…
Adviceabout wooden slats. Hi all. Im renovating old house and it has wooden slats on the wall. What shall i do with them? Keep as is, repaint other color, remove them completely? Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/ReinRebane
Help picking paint and fixtures Hi. I’m looking for some objective opinions on aesthetics. I’ve included a photo of our new bathroom vanity and two different light fixture options. The sink has metallic gold coloring in it and the faucet is black (as is the stopper which is still covered in package wrap). Would you add black or metallic light fixtures and then what color do yo…
