LPT: When taking a photo/video of a screen (or digital QR code), stand away from it and use the zoom function for a clear, crisp image free of irregular pixels I’m often having to take photos of my laptop for work, and I discovered this one a while ago and not too many people seem to know it. Trying to get the phone as close to the subject will often result in a blurry image and can cause strange “pixely” lines or dots to appear on the photo. If you stand back and zoom in instead, the image will be cle…
LPT: Bring your own pillow cases for a hotel stay Years ago when traveling a lot for work, I started bringing a set of pillowcases from home. I put them right over the pillowcases in the hotel. I liked knowing my face was on something clean and cozy each night. When I travel by car, I have been known to take a whole set of sheets and just put them right on over the hotel sheets. It is so cozy a…
LPT: All unsecured items in the cab of your vehicle become projectiles in an accident. I worked with a gentleman who, unfortunately, had a rollover accident on his way from one remote office to another. All his sons hockey equipment became projectiles, and he had a few pucks to the head. Please keep everything in your trunk or secured, because it could really hurt in an accident! submitted by /u/SilkySyl
LPT: Bring a (backup) old phone on an international trip I lost my phone on a month long international trip. Thank god I had a backup old phone to switch to. (Privilege, yes I know. But I know most of you have an old device that still works lying around somewhere. Bring it even if you don’t think you’ll need it.) submitted by /u/canoninkprinter
LPT Get the largest size dog flea drops no matter your dogs size. All the dog size flea drops are exactly the same, just different amounts. My vet gives us the largest dog dose (4oz) and then has us put it in a medicine syringe for my miniature dachshunds (1 oz each) P.s. Don’t use dog flea drops on cats!! submitted by /u/HawkLife247
LPT Give atip in front of others If you do a group activity like kayaking or the like with a guide. At the end give the guide a tip in earshot or even on front of others to remind them to do the same. I know I have forgotten to tip and later realized it and felt really bad. Folks that arent going to tip anyway won’t but one’s that just forget will benefit for reminding them. …

LPT: You can use the drive up in a bank even if you don’t have a vehicle. My bank lobby closes earlier than the drive up so I decided to try to use the drive up on foot. I know you can’t at most fast food chains but was pleasantly surprised that I wasn’t shooed away for not being in a vehicle. I guess because there’s no way to get inside the bank via their drive up. And also ymmv this may not be every bank. I know mi…
LPT: If you mess up a voicemail, press the # (pound key) to delete and re-record your message. For the anxious folk out there. Not 100% foolproof but works for most phones as far as I’m aware. submitted by /u/jinx_x27

LPT: Use a spoon to eat messy snacks so your hands stay clean I like the occasional snack bag of cheetos when I’m at my desk working. Unfortunately, I get all the seasoning residue on my fingers so going back and forth between eating a cheeto and using my keyboard always required using a napkin or paper towel to wipe my hands so there wouldn’t be detritus in between the keys on my keyboard or bright orange…

LPT Label power adapters and any item you keep but won’t know what it is in 2 weeks. You can use a labeler, but even a piece of masking tape with “Norelco shaver” on a power adapter will save you future headaches. This can also be useful for a ton of items that come along with something, say the TV stand you keep but don’t use right now. When you find that in a year, along with a bunch of other crap, you will not remember what i…

LPT: Sleep with a ski cap in the winter Despite having a full head of hair, my head sometimes gets cold when I’m trying to sleep in the winter months. So a few weeks ago, I bought a cotton ski cap or beanie or whatever you want to call it, and it has been a game-changer. I put it on and pull it down over my ears and eyes when I go to bed, and I have slept like a rock every night. It’…

LPT Make a recording of yourself sleeping and listen to your breathing. There are two potential benefits to this. If you ever need to pretend you are asleep, you’ll know how to breathe to fool whoever may be listening. The other benefit is so you can tell if you snore or even worse, have sleep apnea. submitted by /u/thetruesupergenius
LPT: Fogged up mirror in hotel? Use the hairdryer. I travel a decent amount for work, and for whatever reason lots of hotels mirrors fog up when using the shower. The hairdryer will clear the mirror right up, and won’t leave streaks like a towel. submitted by /u/mabowden
