LPT: When on a road trip, big truck stop chains are usually cleaner and better than regular gas stations. Regular gas stations can be hit or miss in regards to cleanliness and quality. Some may not even have restrooms available for customers. Big truck stop chains like Love’s, Flying J, and TA tend to be larger, better staffed, better stocked, and more consistent. submitted by /u/NaturalSelectorX
LPT: Blackbird instead of beep…. I’m a diabetic and use a system on my phone to manage my insulin pump and blood sugar levels. Occasionally, the system sends me notifications about changes, such as high or low blood sugar levels. While these alerts are essential, they often blend in with the barrage of other notifications—text messages, emails, and even my morning alarm. To mai…
LPT- If You Plan to Buy Something that May be embarrassing to you, blame it on losing in your fantasy league around this time of year. For those who are unaware, NFL fantasy leagues just held their super bowls this past Sunday and are done for the season. If you want to go out and buy that guilty pleasure of yours just say you have to do it as punishment for your league if anyone even asks (they probably won’t but this is a great alibi for those who need it.) For an extra laug…

LPT: Save Voicemail Recordings There used to be an app/service (in the UK) around 2010ish, called Hullomail, that captured your mobile voicemail messages and emailed them to you as a sound file attachment. Unfortunately it only seemed to work for a short time (prob cos it was free) – maybe about a year – but in my case, luckily, it captured several voicemails left by my paren…

LPT: If your heating bill is huge during the winter, try heated blankets! As the cost of energy rises, a lot of people are having trouble being able to afford to keep their houses warm during the winter months. While it’s important to keep your home or apartment above freezing (to prevent pipes from bursting, etc.), it’s much more efficient – and therefore, cheaper – to keep yourself warm than to keep an entire room w…
LPT: If you want to mail friends and family a package, let them know ahead of time! Recently a distant relative messaged me to ask if I received their package, and unfortunately they notified me about this while I’m already out of town on holiday. Additionally it’s been raining in the area a lot lately, we’ve had a burglar in the neighborhood, and no friends/colleagues are around to hold it for safekeeping. Let your loved ones …

LPT: When you are in a hotel and you want to listen to music on your phone, put your phone in the sink. Try it. Much better acoustics, and it gives your phone a much bigger sound than if you leave it on your desk. It’s like bringing your boombox on the road with you. submitted by /u/JubileeSupreme
LPT: Baking – placing cookie 🍪 dough evenly if you’re like me, when you’re baking cookies, placing them on the cookie sheet evenly can be a challenge… and if you don’t, the cookies can spread into each other and make a mess if you use baking parchment (and why wouldn’t you?) you can fold the longest side of the parchment in half, then in half again, turn and fold into thirds when you open…
LPT: It’s easier to remember the year someone was born, and calculate their age in your head, than it is to remember how old someone is. As you get older, you will usually underestimate how old someone is. This method works for me. For your friends’ kids whom you haven’t seen in years, my rule of thumb is to roughly double how old you think they are. submitted by /u/atreeofnight
LPT: the words “sanitizer” and “disinfectant” in cleaning etc products are regulated by the the EPA and are not the same thing Sanitizers generally kill bacteria, not viruses. Although I’ve encountered some sanitizers that have a few specific viruses listed on the back that it will kill but limited to just those. Disinfectants kill bacteria and viruses (and perhaps more things like funguses). https://www.epa.gov/coronavirus-and-disinfectants/whats-difference-between-…
