What are examples of actors playing against type on TV? Not recurring roles or anything but there’s an episode of Walker Texas Ranger where Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister Jr. plays a coward scared of lightning and Luis Guzman plays a tough guy telling him to shut up They are (were in the case of Lister) both actors and of course are open to play whatever characters are offered their way but it is just weird bec…

Im watching the first episode of crazy ex girlfriend and it’s already so much fun and quirky. Why don’t shows ever have this much fun and oomph anymore?

Im watching the first episode of crazy ex girlfriend and it’s already so much fun and quirky. Why don’t shows ever have this much fun and oomph anymore? Most shows are super serious and depressing or just boring (there’s a couple exceptions) but I miss the fun quirky creative shows like this and Jane the virgin etc. where it’s clearly just them having fun with wacky plots and the show being heavily stylized. I want fun TV back instead of 8 hour movies!!! submitted by /u/JamesWatchesTV

Memorable SNL Musical Performances

Memorable SNL Musical Performances I’ve been watching SNL since the early 90s, as a kid, but don’t recall paying much attention to the music til my late teens. I was watching some of the special that aired last night and it got me thinking of some of the performances that have stuck with me. In some cases it’s the reason I became a fan of the performer. NSYNC – I Thought She Kne…

Darkest Episodes of Very Flippant TV Shows

Darkest Episodes of Very Flippant TV Shows Now I don’t mean “Very Special” tripe like caffeine pill addiction (lol), pedos on “Different Strokes”…or any intentional “Dramatic Episodes”. I mean eps that you look back on and go “that was a bit dark.” Examples: I think it’s pretty well known the “Bobby idolizes Jesse James” ep on The Brady Bunch was nightmare fuel but the episode that mad…

What shows do you feel were the most successful at introducing new characters in later seasons?

What shows do you feel were the most successful at introducing new characters in later seasons? For me: Lost, The Walking Dead, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and of course Danny Devito’s addition to It’s Always Sunny. Obviously new additions can be hit or miss but many of my personal favourite characters weren’t in the first season of their shows. What other series do you think had successful new character integration into an already establish…

SEE is great and underrated but here’s the problem I have with it (might contain spoilers of season one)

SEE is great and underrated but here’s the problem I have with it (might contain spoilers of season one) the actors playing characters that can’t see are putting their all in the show and doing a great job, then you cut to actors playing characters that can see and they are doing a mediocre job. the ones who cant see are straight out of game of thrones world imo but those who can see give very disney acting. anyone else noticed this? hope it gets …

Have any of you heard about a short-lived TV show called “Christy” starring Kellie Martin?

Have any of you heard about a short-lived TV show called “Christy” starring Kellie Martin? It only lasted two seasons and won Tyne Daly a Emmy but it has a small cult following. While Dr Quinn was more popular and lasted 7 years, I prefer Christy. Kellie Martin was so likable and sweet and I was invested in that love triangle she had with the pretty boy Reverending and sexy macho British Doctor. submitted by /u/Davis_Crawfish …
