Should I buy a house outright? I’m a lawyer with very lumpy income. I have about $360k in equities and $220k in retirement accounts. Last year my taxable income was less than $20k (low six figure total income). I lived off of capital gains and misc legal work while working a fat lawsuit. Last week, I won.
