LPT: Pull out nails twice as easily by sliding a thin object under the head of the hammer By raising the pivot point of the hammer, more force goes to pulling the nail UP, rather than to the side. This lets the nail come out easier and mostly prevents damage to the object you're pulling it out of. I normally use a thin piece of wood or the handle of another tool that is at hand, but almost anything will do.
