How much money should I hold in my savings? Hi, I am 21 and would like to know how much I should hold in my savings. I currently have $5000 in my savings and $1000 in checking. I am a college student and don't have many expenses other than gas, which is about $40 a month. I currently have a Roth IRA, which I max out yearly. I also have an on-campus job from which I get about $750 monthly....
