LPT: If you're awkward around small kids, ask them, "What have you been working on lately?" At first, the kid probably won't understand. Then clarify, "You know, you're always working on stuff. Have you been working on any projects or experiments at home?" Once they realize that you're talking to them about their activities and interests the way you would talk to adults, they LOVE IT.
