Transamerica sought me out to payout my late mother's retirement and are now saying they won't release it to anyone but a spouse My mom, who passed away many years ago, would have hit 65 recently. She had a retirement account through what is now transamerica (I believe it was something else at the time of her death). Transamerica reached out to an aunt looking for "next of kin" to release her retirement to, aunt told them "she was never married, she has a daughter though"...
