Will I be assessed capital gains tax if I sell shares of a money market fund (NAV of $1)? I want to sell about 1500 shares ($1 each) of a government money market fund. Since the value of the shares remains fixed at $1, am I right to assume that the "gains" are zero and I won't have to pay capital gains tax on this? I know that I have to pay income tax on the dividend and interest income, but specifically wondering about capital gains...
