LPT: ask the local police where to eat when you're in an unfamiliar place In foreign countries, I try to avoid touristy areas. I break out Google translate, and ask the police where they consider a good place to eat. They will often send you to these little hole-in-the-wall places that only the locals frequent. I've had very good results.
