LPT: If a family member dies, port their cell phone number to Google Voice so you don’t have to pay for the line but can continue to receive calls and texts. When my father passed away I ported his cell phone number to Google Voice. The cost to port the number was $20. I can still receive his phone calls and texts, but I no longer have to pay a monthly phone bill.
