How to find out if ex-spouse is deceased for Social Security? For the purposes of collecting social security survivor benefits, how does one go about finding out if the ex spouse has ceased? Will the SSA provide that information if asked? My parent has had no contact with ex but should qualify as they were married over 10 years, is over 65, and hasn't remarried.
