I'm in the UK, and I'd like to go somewhere that has different wildlife, especially birds. Where can I do this without having to take a long and/or expensive flight? Obviously I know that if I flew to Costa Rica, Australia or the south of Africa, I'd see interesting birds and wild animals that I wouldn't see at home - and would definitely like to do so someday, as I've never been out of the Northern hemisphere! - but I'm wondering if there's something closer to home that's not on my radar.
